At the end of days,

When the sun burns out will any of this matter?
Who will be there to remember who we were?
Who will be there to know that any of this had meaning for us?

And in retrospect I'll say we've done no wrong,
Who are we to judge what's right and what has purpose for us?

ARTIST THOUGHTS: Okay, decided to do a mass upload of all the wallpapers I’ve made recently but which I haven’t actually gotten around to uploading, lazy ass that I am… This one was done aaaaages ago, as in, last-year-ages-ago but thankfully it was delivered to then as well. XD;; So yes, I decided to take a mini trip back into the phoenix corner of the ring, and it was quite a nice reunion since I enjoyed making this! ^__^ The title of the image comes from the opening song to Final Fantasy X-2, which is one of the most beautiful themes I’ve ever heard so have a listen to it some time if you haven’t, you won’t regret it! (You can listen to it here: bluelaguna.net/music/ffx2/mp3s… ) Meanwhile, the lyrics at the top come from the song “Further” by VNV Nation, one of my favourite songs and bands who write great lyrics.

I partly picked those two songs for inspiration since they make me think of death and memory, which is what I intended this pic to be about – it’s sad to think that some stars we see in the sky are already dead, and who knows, maybe those stars were life for worlds much like our own sun… so you could read this pic as either the death of a star or the death of a world, with only the phoenix left to remember what was there. But at the same time a phoenix represents rebirth, so what once was can live again, yes? ^__^

TECHNICAL STUFF: This was a strange pic to make, because it’s made up of nothing but filtered lines. o__O I drew each separate line with my tablet, applied radial blur filter, then scaled and rotated each line to form something resembling a phoenix. That was probably the most long-winded way to go about it – since then, I’ve uncovered easier methods for the exact same thing… Threw in dodge tool and made stars with 3px and 1px brushes and voila, instant wallpaper. Free to use as always if that’s what you want to do, and go visit as well, who’s not only a big phoenix fan but has great taste in RPG games! Over and out!
