I tried this the other day, but the darn thing kept going in and out to fast all of mine were to blurry

This is a great shot Matt and like the red bottlebrush helps the bee stand out very nicely. This bee looks like he's buzzzie~

awww thanks so much Penny, i did have to click off quite a few shots to get this, they are so hard to capture mid flight cause ive noticed they buzzbuzz so quick between flowers, i resigned to just click click click and hoping i got one, i was lucky i did !!

pswood In reply to barmat [2009-05-17 17:33:37 +0000 UTC]

That's how you mastered it! hehe I'll have to try that next time

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

barmat In reply to pswood [2009-05-18 00:33:06 +0000 UTC]

yep, i guess it depends too on how many you have buzzing around, they were around these flowers in numbers so randomly clicking increased my chances, defiantely turn off auto focus and do that yourself

ArtemisChick [2009-05-12 21:31:53 +0000 UTC]

wow, i wud be too nervous to get too close to a flying bee XD lol but gee that bee is cute in its own buggy way with his feelers sticking out like hes charging at the flower , and lovely colour i tried before to take pics of hummingbirds and it is hard to get good macro shots, even if they dont fly away, cuz i mean, duh, hummingbird, like 90 sumthin flaps per sec or something lol

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

barmat In reply to ArtemisChick [2009-05-13 21:24:58 +0000 UTC]

Hey Laura, I had a telephoto lens on so i wasnt theat close hehe
To get pics of hummingbirds with your camera very hard because you would have to have a very fast shutter speed and you cant adjust that on your camera. It doesnt mean you cant get a pic, just means it would be harder, so dont give up !!!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

ArtemisChick In reply to barmat [2009-05-15 21:06:45 +0000 UTC]

Apparently my camera shutter speed is "10/40 second" watever that means..i'm not the camera feature expert in any way, that would be you hehe..but no i wont give up! i'll get that birdie someday lol

I don't know about 'hairy' but this little guy sure has a load of pollen. I love this shot...absolutely super!!!
I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get some 'bee' shots...normally there are so many and varieties around here in the summer. Of course it is still early, but the damned mosquitoes are out as well as the flies. Both nasty little buggers! Anyway, it is snowing here right at this moment. Can you believe it!!!! On the 'upside'...at least it will catch a lot of those 'mini-vampires' and their larva. Hmm.

I was really happy to get one mid-air and in focus, the bees were all over these flowers, but they are so hard to shoot

sorry for taking so long to get back to you Joyce, i was very busy then the last couple of days ive hardly moved off the lounge with a flu ... damn thing.

just want to thank you Joyce for your DA friendship and all of your lovely words, it means a lot

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Kittihawk11 In reply to barmat [2009-05-16 07:34:40 +0000 UTC]

It was an excellent shot, you were fortunate to catch it mid-air.

Don't apologize for the time getting back to me...look at me right now.LOL I am so busy and life is hectic around here and will continue to be for a month or so. We are busy getting this house and property ready for sale, which means I'm packing some things, discarding a lot...lol. I was out today to look at the new property and I felt quite euphoric after seeing the wonderful job that has been done building the road in and preparing the site. This contractor has an artist's eye, and the skills of a master...the road wends through trees alongside a creek and the site is almost like a fairy-tale for me. It is like a private park.

Sorry to hear you have the flu...best be very careful with this. I can't believe that I have caught a spring cold...ah...to me they are the worst. I'm not a tea drinker, herbal teas that is, but I'm downing Echinacea tea down like it is going out of style. I think it is helping.

So...you are welcome of course, and thank you for your kind words. I appreciate your friendship as well.

Moving is such a big deal ... but it sounds lovely where you are going and i'm so glad you sound so excited and happy
You're absolutely spot on a spring or summer cold is much worse, it's just the wrong time of the year to have one, keep up with the herbal tea, and i hope you're fighting fit soon.
Went on the photoshoot with today, we were blessed with one of the most awesome sunrises we could ask for, ive got a heap of great photos, you'll see some soon, then we went to some waterfalls, we had a great day

Lucky you...glad you enjoyed your day and I am looking forward to the pictures...I can 'JUST' imagine!!!

I can't wait to get things finished up here and hit the trail again...there are some grand and wonderful wild country I would like to capture and of course the animals. I haven't been able to get out at all for the past week and I have dim prospects for next week.

If I could find a corner to hide in right now, I would! I've got the full brunt of this cold today. God Bless the "darlin'" that passed this virus on to me.LOL

Moving is such a big deal, how will the great dog zeus and the other pets handle it? I bet you wish it was just all over already.

haha do you know the "darlin" responsible?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Kittihawk11 In reply to barmat [2009-05-20 07:35:22 +0000 UTC]

You have that right...moving is an ordeal, and right now I wish it were all over and done with. Having a cold, snow outside and my house torn apart is a real bummer for me. As for Zeus, I expect he'll take it in stride although he isn't too damned happy with so many people tearing his house apart and coming and going.LOL With all the activity going on this past week, I didn't notice Zeus wasn't in the house until around 11pm, and then I panicked. After calling him with no response I was about frantic, but going around to the front of the house I saw him lying on the lawn with only the white tip of his tail waving when I spoke. The coyotes were howling and a moose had been hanging around so my immediate thought was that he was injured. That thought mobilized my feet and when I reached him, I found that he had rescued a wild black kitten who was sleeping between his paws so he remained to guard it. Sheesh!!! I was able to pick it up and take it to safety.LOL He will take the move in stride, however I think we had better trap his wild buddy, Charlie the Cat, when we move so they can remain friends.LOL

Ah yes, I do believe I know who the "darlin" was.
