Description
The end of the last cold period of the current ice age also brought the end to the Hyperborean civilisation. The machinations of the traitor bore fruit and the cannibal Ngo-Vekej horde took over the border kingdoms, and finally descended upon the core of the theocracy about twelve thousand years ago. The survivors where herded into camps for slavery or worse. But during the following events, a major group managed to escape and by depleting the last available technology and ressources from the Kolyma sarcophagus bunker they managed to begin the long treck along the polar circle to the west, trying to reach the untouched Thule vaults.Winterwolf, also know as Ania, was a horde girl that in desperation switched sides when she gave birth to a disabled child.
Horde culture would have expected for her to leave it behind in the wild, but while trying to bring herself to do it, she stumbled upon a patrol of the perimeter guard.
She later became a perimeter guard herself and a close friend of Skadi, but her fate would be a dire one in the end. Still, it brought about the end of the Traitor and the Hyperborean world. What followed was the age of terror ruled by Tilian-Ayr and the harvesters.

Great render my friend! Just the banding in fullview is somehow disturbing...

You're right about that, the filter enhances the banding that is inherent in the artificial sky. I'll be more on the lookout for the effect next time

Love this cinematic scene! The colours of the ice and sky and the movement of the wolves and Ania. Those industrial machines look really cool too with their fins, are they the harvesters?

Thanks! The original was a bit less saturated and colorful, but I liked the way this looked. Can't be always all grim now
Anyways those are kind of ice sleds with the movable fins acting as wings and solar panels. They are actually pretty lightweight and have some limited mobility on their own, but usually they need some wind to get moving.
The Hyperboreans, even though they were a civilization that is called 'Hochkultur' in German (strangely there does not really seem to be an English word for it... it's usually applied to ancient egypt, mesopotamie, asian or american civilizations) meaning they had a pretty complex society based on low tech, sometimes even stone age kind., were not able to construct this stuff themselves. But they had access to some vaults and informations of predecessor technology, even though they were pretty careful about these remains. This being an emergency they pretty much depleted or destroyed all remaining ressources. In case you're wondering, the Ngo-Vekej basically refers to us - the modern mankind. Hyperboreans were another species more closely related to Denisovian or Neanderthal humans.

I'm massively impressed with your detailed back story for all this! You must have a lot of stuff swirling around in your mind, tricky to remember it all!

To avoid brainlock I wrote most of it down but there's no way ever to post all of it on DA, so I more or less pick out the stuff that suits my mood for creating a picture. So I can shove backstory on you all day

Excellent. Love the changing color of the atmosphere in the background.... Nice sense of motion with the figures too. 3D characters can look stiff even when supposedly in motion. This looks really great.

Well, you have a pretty distinct style that does not suffer from this problem as much, but with our current, lets say, 'amateur' 3d technology it's difficult to avoid, since we're actually shooting stiff and motionless stuff.. We'd really need smart ultra short time motion scripts that could be hooked up to the render process comfortably and without blowing up render time. Otherwise it's Ray Harryhausen gone digital But now that real-time raytracing is within grasp, I hope it's just a matter of time (and money...).

Yeah, I use the 2D cheat of mostly keeping the head at 45 degree angles.... 😂 Seriously though, your right, a joint bend in 3d is not like in real life where a single joint rarely bends individually. Take your pinky to your thumb. Hard to do without the next finger following. It's one of those things I try to rember when posing. Helps add a realistic touch.

Hey, great you like it. As I wrote, there's only one wolf and that walks on two legs, the others being early domesticated dogs akin to the Chukotka. But yes, and those sleds and people moved slowly like a city crawling along the border of the polar circle for the better part of a generation at least...

Ahh, haha.

I think I actually never played CO, only DC Universe online. But at some point I gave up on the stuff, because in all those games, you have to invest a lot of time to progress beyond a certain point. For me that always ended in frustration
