Description Thirty thousand years ago, mankind founded a nameless city on the banks of a nameless stream in the vast forests of central asia. There was no need for names, for there was no peer. 

The time was not ripe. Some that were born to raise that city, wept as it turned to ashes. Yet the deeds of the founders and paladins, Eweddin, Rian, Lorn, Tugur, Skadi and the others, were retold until they ran through every legend ever told. 

What once had no name, today has so many names as songs about its fall were sung.

The river still is there, but grown and swollen on molten ice it carried away what traces remained, into a black and sullen sea.


Unfortunately some real world nuisances have forced me to postpone the next Murderin' Angels panel. So here's the next Aeons picture.

I always wanted to try this out. It's actually even relatively acceptable on system load. Of course loads of instancing and texture crunching involved, but at least for the purpose of illustrating a story, it goes a long way.

Maybe a little trick I learned, if you do not use it already: If I create instances from like say these city blocks, after I set up the first original buildings, I don't instance the whole bunch as one item, but go to the bother to instance every building, put these into a new group and then duplicate this group again and again. So I can vary the individual position/size and tilt of every building, or hide them, in the city squares, but it's still all instanced.

I learned that from my Scots pikemen actually. When it comes to saving anything, them Scots are cunning

Von AC hab ich nur Black Flag gespielt, Hüpfen und Puzzlen war noch nie mein Ding (vermutlich seit ich mal aus Verzweiflung Pitfall! auf dem VCS durchgespielt habe in meiner Kindheit...)... bin dieses Jahr noch gar nicht zum Spielen gekommen

Bei so etwas muss ich an Prince of Persia 1 denken, ein schreckliches Spiel. Aber ich war da wohl auch noch zu jung um genug Geduld zu haben.

Black Flag war ja auch einer der besten Teile, auch wenn der Charakter eig. ziemlich unsympatisch war, aber das Setting war ein Traum.
Ubisoft schafft es halt wie kaum ein anderer Publisher eine gigantische Open World zu zaubern, dass haben die in den Jahren mit AC, Far Cry, Ghost Recon etc. perfektioniert. Auch wenn die Welt im Grunde immer noch wenig "zu bieten" hat, ist sie aber optisch ein Traum. In Odyssee musste ich zwingen nicht die ganze Zeit Panorama-Screenshots zu machen.  Daher war die Reihe mein erster Gedanken bei diesem Bild.

Yeah I really fell back, and also got sidetracked by another project (I'm not as single-minded as it may seem )... but at least the storyline is pretty much layed out, I just have to find time to get all the renders done
