In case you didn't clue in from reading the title, this is an illustration based off the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel (you know, dude with awesome hair?)Google, my friend, and you will be blessed with an image of hair that YOU CAN NEVER HAVE HAHA.If you have never read Life of Pi, then you probably have no idea what this is all about. And guess what? I'm not going to explain it. The book or this painting. What's the fun in that?
If you want to take a guess, go for it. I'd actually love to hear what you have to say.
I do love how this came out. I've notice with watercolours, I tend to make my colours go BAM. I sure use a lot of paint..

I watched the movie, never read the book.. However, I can see the different animal's pelts, and this object looks to be as some sort of floaty-thing. Was there some emble or design mentioned/used in the book?
As of the story - I wasn't extremely wild about it. I like anything with animals in it, but when a story makes an animal with a bad reputation look bad, it sort of distresses me. As long as they show another animal of the same species doing something good later in the story, I'll be content. But otherwise, I was upset with how they made the hyena look bad... Hyenas are one of my favorite animals, to boot.

I watched the movie, but what? The shape of that thing. WHAT. xD
The water is simply lovely, though. I love the way its going, the shades, all of the detail. And even that awkward, intriguing thing in the middle of it.

The zebra thing is sticking out. It was he first to die.
The orangutan died second, that is also sticking out. Theeen the hyena, and it could be assumed the tiger might have as well and the boy is in the middle. IDK that doesn't seem like it works.
It kind of looks like a house symbol. So it's like together they were... No, that doesn't work. But together, they all created the oppo--- No, that doesn't work. Ah! Since there was nowhere to go, they together had to be in one house/home (the boat) and... yeah. Yeah that doesn't work.
WELL.
It also looks like half of an H. H = harmony, broken harmony?
And an F! F fooor.... Well there's a lot of possibilities.
...Soooo
This was driving me crazy. So I asked my friend if she could figure it out. And she did. And I didn't know it because I never knew the shape of it. But I won't spoil it for anyooone.
But that's smart.

Again! Nice artwork =] Looooved the movie. Miiiiight read the book at some point in my life.

It's the sign of pi, made with the textures of Pi, Richard Parker, the zebra, and.....the hyena. Where's Orange Juice?
And the sharks circling around because it's the Pacific ocean xD

The 3 colour blocks on the top of the pi symbol represent Richard Parker, Pi (middle, the "bridge" part of the symbol), and the hyena. And then the zebra and Orange Juice on the "legs". I originally worked with the idea that the predators, or alphas, were on top, and the prey, or omegas, were on the bottom. I had a reason for everything else too, but this is an old piece that I did for highschool and have since forgotten. xD

Orange juice is at the bottom of the painting, right side of the pi, and is attached to Richard Parker....I hope you understand because I can't really explain the location.

looks really neat and surreal, tho I have no idea what it means xD Hmmmm *thinking cap*.. sharks= lurking danger, Pi= infinite exactness? Tiger and zebra stripes.. predator and prey.. teaming up together to fend off the lurking danger? xD Or the food chain.. circle of life- YEAH THE CIRCLE OF LIFE (sharks.. CIRCLING.. Pi.. part of equation for a CIRCLE..) something like that anyways pff xD I really have no idea xD
