Amazing tutorial , HDR has always been a myth to me as I am a film user but there are certain aspects and techniques that could also be applied to film shooting and this tutorial has given me some ideas and cleared up a few points as well

I don't believe my camera has an AEB,would you know what to do in such a case?

You should manually adjust the exposure for each shot - since you'll have to touch your camera in between shots this will move the camera, so a tripod is probably best.

I've browsed through gallery so many times but I saw that tutorial as late as today. I'm glad I finally see someone who prefers Photoshop better than Photomatix Pro. It was interesting reading that article. But most of these things I already know... What I truly found here is that not the photoshop processing makes the picture perfect.

I've never seen this technique for generating an HDR, but I will certainly give it a try, with these handy directions at the ready!

Hougaard, I tried using camera's AEB, but it blended two images together into one and it just a blurry useless image. do you do yours manually or I am missing something?

sweet tutorial...
p.s. when placing one image on the top of the other, you don't need a move tool, just Ctrl+a(for all), ctrl+c and then ctrl+v one of the images in the scene where the other one in, since they are the say, they will end up one on the top of the other without an need to adjust. its faster and easier...

Ah, it had never occurred to me to use a circular gradient. Silly me! Better sunsets from now on, methinks.

I'm actually really glad you went with the stacking of images and manually doing the gnd as opposed to the "merge" option available that can more often than not give you very unnatural results.

good tutorial, though i must point out that this isn't the kind of HDR most people mean when they say HDR.
it is basically what i do, only i don't use the gradient tool, i mask in everything with the brush/erase tool. (for this the \ key comes in handy, as it shows the layermask as a red haze, unmissable when your trying for a very close blend)

Great tutorial, and it's nice to see an HDR tutorial that doesn't only rely on Photomatix for the tonemapping. I actually almost always use the initial shots, Photomatix traditional and compressor modes and take what I need from each. But the more I explore HDR the more I realize that simple masks and original photographs are of the essence, as your tutorial suggests. Great work and great perspective to have and share on HDR!
