Yep! Another Lauri Ylonen/The Rasmus fan art!Believe it or not, this is actually based on a dream that I had not too long ago. (Yes, Lauri Ylonen has appeared in my dreams!) In this dream, I was watching a show that was about this group of friends who get stranded on a seemingly deserted island. It seems like your typical tropical island but they soon discover a modern city in there but it seems completely deserted. So, they make shelter within the city and soon the members of this group start to mysterious disappear. You soon discover how they are disappearing because you see this shadowy figure kidnapping the people. I didn't get to see the kidnapper in detail until later on, he came out of the shadows and he looked a lot like Lauri Ylonen! (Yes, Lauri is the bad guy in this dream!) Though, if he were a character in a show/movie, I could see him being either the bad guy or anti-hero.) I didn't sleep long enough to see whether or not the remaining members of the group resolved this mystery or why Lauri was kidnapping everyone, I guess it is a "to be continued...or not" kind of show!
And yes, the title of this picture was inspired by The Rasmus song; "In the Shadows", since Lauri was literally in the shadows in this dream!

BEFORE I DO THAT, time to actually comment on the art itself. It is a really good job, it is a recognized figure that looks fairly 3D with shading, yet there are only 2 shades? Almost 3 looking at the eyes all darker there. And it's Lauri, he's awesome.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I just used black marker and ink pens, just one shade. And yes, Lauri is awesome!

Not just of The Rasmus, there were Lauri's solo work as well.
I see the one shade you used but the second shade is the paper right? XD Just bringing it up because I'm anal like that, not that I think you're less than smart or aware. Another thing I see a third shade in the eyes because it's like you focused there and there is more than one layer of marker drawn on so it's darker.

Ah, now I see what you mean by seeing three shades on this piece. I think the eyes seem darker because I did have the eyes drawn in detail, but I didn't like how they turned out, so I shaded over them which made them look darker.

Yes he did! It's been out since March 2011, the single Heavy since the end of February! The album is called New World and he has 2 singles from it, Heavy and In The City both with official videos. Other people of uploaded it on youtube but Lauri has his own channel I go to, "LauriOfficial" and a website "laurimusic.com". I think I used those songs (Heavy and In The City) in my epic comment there... XD Same with Have A Little Mercy, my personal favourite other than Heavy. The 2 best songs ever? In The Shadows and Heavy. :3 I already have New World - Special Edition with other people's remixes of Lauri's songs.
Yeah the dark eyes worked out well! :3 I like nice flukes... many times the people who see it's cool aspect don't need to know it's a fluke. ;D I also see some of those "darker" shades in the hair and almost gives it more of a hair texture. Maybe you should take on this idea and play with it when you draw with a marker in the future!

Yes, "nice flukes" are better then bad unrepairable ones! I had so much fun drawing this, that I might end up doing something like this again sometime! (In fact, I did do something like this if you don't mind digging through my gallery. It's called "The Skull Remover." if you are curious.)

Flukes are positive things, accidents and mistakes aren't always. XD The Skull Remover is a nice piece. Where my best flukes happen, if you don't mind me sharing, is in my video!

I was one who saw epic AMVs like that and thought I could never as well... but then I put my mind to it. Anything is possible when you really want to! So in your mind, you have decided not to waste your time on that? XD (Because it is a waste of time, there is no purpose to that video other than free entertainment to others and it was kind of fun for me. No other purpose)

Haha, I do waste my time making stop-action videos that are not worthy enough to post on DA or youtube! So, in my mind, I waste my time doing other stuff! But I agree, you can do anything once you put your mind to it!

You have to apply to be able to post videos on deviantART. There have been too many copyright problems with videos on deviantART. You have to apply and promise you won't have copyrighted audio (music/movie quotes ETC) or video (music video/movie clips) and the whole video is completely yours. Though if you find free stock music or pay for stock music you are able to.
