I think it's the writer for the comic that caused them to be dropped as a couple...And after checking Wikipedia, he had a hand in the animated series.

I've been reading the Batman Beyond comics and it's been delving into the past and a time whenΒ theyΒ got back together with Dick about to propose but finds out Bruce & Babs had a relationship.Β It's sad to see such great characters not get theirΒ happy ending.

Never the less this is a great piece of art, you captured the essence of the show perfectly.
