can I use this to do a photomanipulation? I plan on making the girl tattooed and this piece would do wonderfully.

The curly worms do not flow or follow the design energy, if you remove them or change them to wiggly flow with the design, your composition will be improved.
Add a drop shadow between skulls and they will have more dimension.
The design appears to be overall, light in color. If you deepen the back ground areas, (example blue and white make tint highlight, blue and black make tone, shading areas), you will create more of a depth feeling, and if you add a drop shadow behind that strip which runs diagonally left to right the design will be more three dimensional. Also if the that strip which runs diagonally left to right is thickened top or bottom, the progression will make more sense and it will appear to be moving to somewhere, creating movement and greater flow.
That is all.
I hope this is what you were looking for in a critique.

It is a mistake to not try something new artistically. Being bold and adventurous will create something new and exciting. Now that you have draw the twirly worms, they may be wonderful in another composition (I like the look of them, just not in this composition). Trial and error is how one grows artistically.
All the best to you.

i love this actually, hes got a point about the making it seem a little deeper or 3D but i think the twirling worms are great actually i just wish you made them look as detailed and bulging like the one going into the skull and out the eye. aside from that i would just sharpen the tips to make them look a little more sinister, but thats up to you whether or not that follows your vision for this piece.
i think you should sacrifice as little vision as possible for things like composition. if you feel satisfied with the end product that's whats most important, no matter whether its drawing, music, photography or whatever. art is very much abut putting a piece of yourself out into the world so dont be afraid to challenge and alter concepts like "composition" at their core to create something a little more unique.

This is really neat I like it a lot. Is this a tattoo design you made for yourself?

Ugh your designs are so innovative and fresh! So jealous! Can I ask, how did you get into your apprenticeship? And do you get payed? Finally, what are your duties as an apprentice? It seems with each person/shop it's different so it'd be interesting to know!

Love the skulls. corruption, and especially the organized communities of worms. The one coming out of the eye looks a little dongy (phallic) though. Thinking I was juvenile I had a look at it inverted but the impression was still there.
Despite that the watercolor is beautiful and it seems like wc is a great medium to make mock ups that can translate well to tattoo.
