Description
Name: Copper
Gender: Female
Parents: Unknown
Siblings: Dogwood

Copper has never questioned the ways of Darkhaven as she has always lived there and has never known anything else. She is fiercely loyal to Darkhaven and has trained hard in order to get a good rank within the warren and will always outperform in whatever she is doing even if she doesn't have too. She will get rid of any obstacle in her path whatever it may be to reach her goals.

Name: Dogwood
Gender: Male
Parents: Unknown
Siblings: Copper

Dogwood has also never questioned the ways of Darkhaven because he has always lived there and never known anything else. He is more loyal to himself than Darkhaven and is more concerned with his own welfare than helping Darkhaven become stronger but he stays in Darkhaven because he enjoys the violence and fighting. He lost the end of his tail in a fight for a higher position in Darkhaven, he had pinned his opponent and they gave up but when Dogwood released her and he turned around she ripped the end of his tail off and in return he ripped out her throat.

Reminds me of that novel about rabbits. I've always loved rabbits, but I never got one until 1994 and it was a girl. We named her Babs, after Babs Bunny from Tiny Toons.

Nice job, I especially like their name choices.

You know your refs for your new Watership Down comic is giving me flashbacks of my own abandoned WSD fan series. Have I already told you about it?

Thank you

I think I remember you mentioning your abandoned WSD fan series in a journal a while back but apart from that I know nothing about it.

Ah, I see. Would you be interested in knowing further details about it?

Alrighty then. I'll try to narrow some facts down as much as possible.

-The story was called "Home on Watership Down" and was divided into three parts. Part 1 was just a collection of a bunch of slice of life stories mainly about Hazel's and Bigwig's children, and the last chapter of Part 1 ended with Blackberry giving birth to her kittens. Parts 2 and 3 were were the plot with a new villain started, and took place years later when the kits were adults.
-Bigwig/Spartina's four children are named Pine, Luna, Thornbush, and Shorthair. Campion/Blackberry's three children are named Cobalt, Nutmeg, and Zen.
-The villain was a cult worshipper of Woundwort and intended to build his own Efrafa again and rule it with an iron fist. He idolized Woundwort so much that he changed his name to "Woundwort the Second" in devotion to doing everything his way. He starts by kidnapping Vervain and Granite (who were both seen surviving at the end of the series) and forcing them to be his captains
-Some characters and story elements from the original book and movie were supposed to be reused into the plot. For example, the first few prisoners who were to be rescued were two rabbits named Silver and Zenthlay, the latter who becomes Mallow's mate. Primrose and Blackavar get re-captured into Efrafa again but get rescued, although Blackavar undergoes more character development as he receives his scars and iconic shredded ears that he had in the book/movie. Part 2 was supposed to end similarly to how the movie and Season 2 of the series ended- with the new Woundwort losing several of his soldiers when the Watership Down rabbits lure the farmer's dog into the warren and he wipes out half of Woundwort II's army. Lastly, the aftermath of the series after the villains are defeated and the plot is solved ends altogether with the classic scene of Hazel dying of old age and going into the afterlife with El-Ahrairah/The Black Rabbit.
-Several characters from the TV series were supposed to return as well. Kehaar and his family come to visit Watership Down just in time to also help the rabbits fight against Woundwort II, and we see Moss as the chief of his own warren, known as the Evergreen warren. He teams up with Watership Down to fight against Woundwort II.
-Some canon characters I planned to have die were Vervain, Granite, Blackavar, and Hazel. I already talked about Hazel's death, and I was going to give Blackavar his movie death but decided to spare him and give him a happy ending. Vervain died by being the first unfortunate victim to the jaws of the farmer's dog, and Granite was supposed to have a heel-face turn and make amends with Spartina just before having a huge heroic Ginga-style sacrifice of some sort.
-Some of my favorite characters I created were a group of rabbits called the Blackfurs, an all-male Owsla led by three brothers named Shadow, Slate, and Silt. They are first seen at the end of part one kidnapping a pregnant Blackberry with the intention of having her bear children for them to expand the warren. Even after Watership Down rescues and retrieves Blackberry from them, they reject Hazel's offer to let them join his warren where they have plenty of does. They later join Woundwort II's warren and are the first to help expand his Owsla.
-Some other fan characters I created for the story were an Angora rabbit named Limestone, two former Efrafa brothers named Lendri and Gravel, and a brother and sister named Fireweed and Scarlet- the latter becomes Blackavar's mate.

The reason I ditched the story because there were just too many chapters and plot points for me to write at that time and I had a hard time keeping the rabbits in-character. It was the longest fanfiction I had planned on this site and it didn't even get much attention. Still, what are your thoughts on some of the things that just could have been?

Well it sounds very interesting and cool and I love the name you gave to moss's warren i've been wondering what to call his warren for a while now and i haven't thought of a name half as good as that  and I too am planning to give Blackavar his shredded ears. I would have loved to have read it but I can see why you decided to stop making it I too am wondering how on earth i'm going to fit all the plot points I have in mind into my comic (the plan is to do side comics when it gets going). I like your bad guy it makes sense that there would be someone who worships Woundwort what with him being probably the most evil rabbit anyone has ever seen and his impressive fighting skills. Watership Down isn't the most popular thing and the TV series is even less popular than the book/movie so that's just probably why it didn't get that much attention

Thanks. Yeah, it is tough coming up with warren names. Most of them seem to be based on location, and Moss' warren was named after the fact that they live in a burrow underneath an evergreen tree.

Writing comics is undoubtedly hard. True, some of the people who read my comic were people who've never even watched/read Watership Down. There was also the fact that it was just going to take too long. It originally started out as a comic but it took me four MONTHS just to draw, write, and scan just the FIRST chapter. Then I went on to write it as a fanfiction but over time people just gradually kinda stopped reading it, so I ditched the series altogether.

Nice job.

Style's getting better. Anatomy needs work, as it still looks wonky in places... but hey- change isn't gonna happen overnight.

Keep at it, Winter: challenge yourself with each drawing.
Maybe try some drawings of your WSD characters on all fours, or maybe from another angle. Heck, even expressions are a good way to practice.

You're doing great. Like the character designs. Their front and back legs (as well as their backs and bellies) look odd to me, but, hey- you're still learning-- that's what matters.
It's forgivable because that's what works for you right now.

You'll grow.

Good luck.
And have fun.

Can't wait to see your comic start! I'm excited!

Thank you , yeah i've been meaning to get round to drawing a WSD character on all fours for a while now I feel like for the ref sheets it works better if i draw them standing on two legs as you can see the design more easily.

You're welcome.

And I can understand wanting to try new things, but still wanting to stick with what you know. But you've gotta get out of your comfort zone and try new things.

Nevertheless, take your time.
You'll get there soon enough.

Hey- if there's any way I can help you with your anatomy, just feel free to ask.
I can probably draw up a quick rabbit lineart on DAMuro.
