Description
*Original Pokeball designs I came up with for the three starter Pokemon from Generation I*YES!! Finally! I've had the idea to do this since I first started working on the first set (as some of you may recall). I've spent a lot of time trying to make these look just right, and have pretty much been working on them since the beginning. These have definitely been by far the hardest three to do out of all of the sets so far (at least for an amateur modeler such as myself). I'm glad I finally achieved my goal, but I still feel like they could be a lot better. Oh well, enjoy!
Also as a side note: I know a lot of people wonder about Charmander's ball and the flames, understandably. You must know however that it is merely for looks, and you should think of it like the flames on Ponyta and Rapidash. If the Pokemon trusts the trainer enough and is comfortable with them, then the flame would be completely harmless. Flames are only emitted when the ball is enlarged as well, and would diminish when minimized.
First Set: [link]
Second Set: [link]
Third Set: [link]
Mantis Ball: [link]
Psychic Ball: [link]
Swordsman Ball: [link]
Furious Ball: [link]
These can be used on any Pokemon, but will work worse than a normal Pokeball if not used on the proper Pokemon, and the Pokemon will be prone to disobedience and stubborness. When used on the correct Pokemon however, they will be much easier to catch as well as more loyal and loving towards its owner.
List of Pokeballs from left to right:
Bulb Ball
Only works with catching Bulbasaur
Char Ball
Only works with catching Charmander
Squirt Ball
Only works with catching Squirtle
They can also be used to catch each Pokemon's evolution/related Pokemon
As a side note, I am very willing to accept alternate names for Pokeballs, if I feel that they would be better suited for them.

Yea I was going more for looks rather than comfort, plus it would just be a fake fire effect rather than real flames.

I'd go with squirt ball, it's more aerodynamic than bulb ball, and I'd get some burns if I even tried to pick up the char ball .
Still cool though

First I made a cone-like shape. It wasn't actually a cone, just a shape I adjusted and warped to look almost like a cone. You can use any shape though.
Just create a new material after that and I think the only things I changed were the color, and alpha channel, perhaps one other thing but I can't remember. Set them both to fire which you can find under Texture>Surfaces>Fire, in each section (color and alpha). I tweaked a couple other things here and there as well.

Yeah I was thinking last night about it and I'm pretty sure I will do it at some point. I made the one I sent you before I had my headset so the video was recorded completely separate from the audio, which is why it's hard to follow.

Yeah sure! It's easier than it looks really. It's actually the same exact technique used to make the cutout around the Pokeball's button.
First you'll want to have your sphere, and the shape that you want to "cut out" of the sphere. It has to be touching the sphere or else nothing will happen. The shape that is created with the intersection of the sphere and the other shape is what the cut out will look like. Also make sure that the sphere is above the other shape in the layers section, or else it won't subtract correctly.
Now, theres's an object called "Boole", and it looks like a green sphere with a transparent sphere touched up against it. Add one of those, and then select both of your shapes and place them inside of the Boole object. It should then show your new sphere with a cut out if done correctly.
I know this may be hard to follow especially being in English, but if you're still having trouble I'm hoping to have a new more in depth tutorial uploaded within the week. I will go over multiple different techniques that I do when creating my Pokeballs, including the one I just described.
Hope this helps

Well, you explained it so good that I am impress, but that is what I can do with my balls, but the problem is the shape that cut the sphere and make this form.I know how cut it but I don't know with what object.Sorry, I didn't explain very well and I made you lost time :S.
Sorry, and thanks for explained so good.

I understand. Really it's just a manipulated sphere. You can make almost anything with just the basic shapes. It's really just a matter of thinking outside the box and experimenting with different shapes that you can make.
Under the tab "Coord." when you have a shape like a sphere for example selected, you'll find the position, scale, and rotation properties. Messing with the scale properties will give you an elongated sphere that should give you the shape you're looking for.
No need to apologize either. It's not your fault.

If you think about, that tiny tododile I raised helped me catch all my pokemon, it helped me my first pokemon, witch where added to my team and used to catch even more. It all started with one, your starter is your best friend!

UniqSchweick12 In reply to FloweryFruitFangs [2011-11-01 01:21:59 +0000 UTC]
Yes but these are the three that started it all. The worldwide adored game, show, trading card game, etc. all started with a choice between these three right here. It starts with a choice, and everything follows after that. Besides not every trainer wants to "catch em all", but rather have their six that they always stand by and go through everything with together.
