Description I've been thinking a lot about a recent story on National Public Radio about the horrible conditions in which gold is still mined today. Extremely unhealthy, exploitive, dangerous, poisonous, etc., for the miners, who make next to nothing.

The poem just before this piece, "Au," is a reaction to that, and this piece is sort of an abstract expression about how gold carries with it the blood of its miners--and the blood of all who've suffered because of our lust for gold.

So, a little didactic, heavy-handed, and probably undecipherably abstract. Also a little personal, as I've been trying to figure out how to remove my gold wedding ring, which I haven't taken off in 20+ years. My ex recently left to shack up with some asshole she met in a coffee house.

I guess you could say that I'm kinda down on gold these days... LOL.

Yeah, it's a little weird

In spite of all this darkness, this was actually quite fun to do... I'm really still a noob with Carrara and just scratching the surface of what you can do with it, but it has great controls for lighting and rendering.

I do expect to get back to some more fun things with DAZStudio soon... this recent weirdness is just getting some stuff off my chest.

Sorry for the long answer... it just felt cathartic to write some of this out

No worry about the long answer In fact, I'd put what you wrote there on the main Artist's comment.

The story makes sense, I just didn't understand the image till you said it though and didn't see your poem till after I saw this. Yea, gold sucks, people kill for it, people do the worst things imagine for the stupid piece of metal. Why is it worth so much? What use are they except "to make a girl happy"??? Of course, the girl's happy 'cause it's worth a lot of money and she know's you spent a lot on her. Then the question comes to mind, why's it worth so much? What use is it? LOL. It's simply a stupid piece of soft metal, it does nothing but.... nothing. Gold is simply worthless to me (to use, not to sell).

That image... I looked closely at it. Wow, it's big!! Lots of reflection going on too. Strange image, but there's lots of shapes to look at.

I don't use Carrara, so I wouldn't know how long it took to render, I only use DS3.

Lastly but certainly not least, in fact this part of the comment is the most important. I'm deeply sorry your 20 year marriage ended. It really, really sucks when this happens Too many people take marriages for granted and don't see it as the most important thing in life. I've never been married (hell I can't even find a girlfriend), but I do know that it's a sacred not to be taken lightly, it's a life bond, not some paper. I can certainly understand why you're feeling down and hope you can find some solace. At least you still have your friends here! I'm here for ya buddy!

Oh, and I apologize for the long respond too haha
