This piece inspired me to write a poem...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excuse me sir. I engage the attendant.
But this mask has expired.
The people begun to see through it.
They saw I was in denile.
They could see I was incapable of smile.
To go the extra mile.
That I was just blank. Emotional trial.
I want them to see a smile.
So they can't see my shattered while.
Keeping me from exile.
I don't want them to see my pile.
Upon my shoulder tile.
Written on my true smile.
I want to see a smile.
In the mirror dial.
Something that's worthwhile.
I want to hide my broken smile.
For it is grotesque and vile.
I want a mask that's versatile.
The attendant replies.
I know of just the smile.
It will fit greatly with your style.
You will find it in the forth aisle.
He tightens his tie.
As I look for awhile.
To find only lies. Beneath that smile.
It's always pleasant to see how an overused topic such as "the masks" can be treated with a new focus ^^
Great work!
It'd be fun to do that for a day. Make a bunch of masks and sell them openly...
Oh that pic is so bloody wonderful! Such a simple idea but masterfully pulled off. It also helps that those masks put me in mind of the 'Shy Guys' from the Mario games.
Excellent stuff man, keep it up!
I like it.
There is concept, indeed, open to interpretation and intriguing.
And there is technique: you did a very good job at the background, with nice perspective, good sense of detail and excellent readability (foreground vs. background, etc.).
Well done, I will take a look at the gallery now.
Neat. It reminds of a Thomas Ligotti story called "The Greater Festival of Masks."
I'd totally buy every piece from you...
Also this!
There's so much in it... the fact that the monkey also wears a mask is very interesting... have to think about it...
[...]
[...]
It also looks like everyone makes fun of him... laughing at him and stuff...but that monkey...
The monkey is the most interesting thing for me, except of the face from that guy...
OMG I f*ckin love your style!
I wish it would be MY style...
I'll invent a styl-o-mator, it takes cool styles from other artist and give it to meee!
It is like mixing lot of nice, bright colors: all you get is a brownish, dull color...
Unless you want to switch between all the styles you stole...
What I like in this picture is that, even if simple, it really makes you think!
The concept of people wearing masks itself is already open to a deep interpretation, then there is the fact that the guy is holding the only sad mask.
And then, even if one can't really see his face, the person holding the mask seems not to have facial features at all.
I could stare at this picture for hours, considering every detail... I could, weren't I at work
very interesting piece
multiple metaphors here
it reminds me of a phrase from V for Vendetta "you wear a mask for so long you forget who you were beneath it"
I've been thinking about that lately, but in a more generalised and collective sense...
Interesting, very thought provoking. I'd think of something interesting to say but I'm not with it right now. Call it a rain check
