Description A depiction of the very fragmentary, but infamous "giant Alaskan Troodon" of the Prince Creek formation. Although the water is in the foreground, this is a beach scene. Given the relatively large brain to body ratios of related species, I suspected its pretty safe to assume that these were intelligent and inquisitive creatures, as depicted by their curiosity surrounding the crabs. Troodontids are a fascinating bunch, and perhaps I went a tad overboard, but I like the idea that these were ferocious predators, while simultaneously covered in a thick layer in protective feathering, both for cold, and for defense. While it is easy to see why the would have evolved feathering for cold protection, it also makes sense to me that they would be designed to give would be attackers and prey a mouthful of fluff, rather than flesh. This is especially given how easily feathers pop off of modern birds today.
