Description
The marriage between two iconic toys. This was made for a silent auction.
From start to finish, I estimate that it took about 2-3 hours.
My favorite part was shading the squares on the rubik's cube. I am trying out ways to be experimental with representing different colors by using different patterns to shade. I think this was a pretty successful attempt, but I'd love to hear your opinions and suggestions!
EDIT (12-19-15): I updated the background and am now offering prints on etsy - woohoo! www.etsy.com/listing/261067973…
EDIT (1-17-20): I updated it once more - the print link still works!

Whoaaaa... awesome work!
I love how you came up with different patterns for each face of the cube. I also like the idea of using a puzzle-like device to depict another puzzle
Congratulations on a well-deserved DD!

Do you take the stuff out that erases it afterwards? Or do you just take a pic and then shake it? lol!

I hope you do--they're a blast!
My favorite thing about an etch-a-sketch is that it's like a never-ending sheet of paper, because once you're done, you can flip it over and start all over again.

Wow, I thought that a stylus is used with this thing, but it appears that it's all done with the knobs? You did an amazing job!

Oh my god... that's just too amazing. How long does an average one of these take you?

pikajane In reply to Human-pon3 [2013-07-30 02:58:38 +0000 UTC]
it really depends on a couple parameters: size of the etch-a-sketch I am using, subject matter, etc
usually work on a pocket size etch a sketch takes me somewhere between 5 minutes for a quick portrait to over 4 hours for my most detailed work, including a detailed background
