Amen to that, I also remember when TV in general was mostly the show and not 20 minutes of commercials and also when magazines weren't 90% ads. Love this pic hun, Great work!

It astounds me, sometimes, when I hear a hit song from even as recently as 10 or 12 years ago. I listen and realize just how often I saw the music video. Or how instrumental (pun intended?) the video itself was to the song becoming a hit. Whatever I saw of MTV in the 80s resides in my brain as little, surreal bits of memory--stuff I can't quite remember, can't tell whether I dreamed it or saw it.
In the 90s, the channel felt like a different beast--I honestly don't know if Sheryl Crow would have had half the career she does if she and her eyes didn't look so ethereal and gorgeous in the video for "If It Makes You Happy." But music was still there. The Spice Girls and so on--I hesitated to call it music then and now, but it was still MTV more than it was reality TV then.

Anyway. About your piece ...
I favorited this not out of my own nostalgia but because of the medium--the vastly underutilized Etch-a-Sketch, I mean--and the design. This toy is perfectly suited to making and MTV logo and I'm pleased to see someone do just that. In the late 80s or early 90s, you could bet that a stop motion video recording of the making of your work here, played fast, would have been a great commercial bumper for the channel.
Great stuff!

The vocabulary is just college baggage, ma'am.
I've got an Etch-a-Sketch drawing that I took a photo of, somewhere. I'll have to browse my own Facebook (sadly) and see if I can find it.
Recent music I like: the band Marah, whose music is idiosyncratic, for lack of a better word. Try this video: [link]
Or this one: [link]
Outside of that, I've been digging Ennio Morricone, who did soundtracks for italian westerns (Clint Eastwood ones) way back when, and I've been into a lot of pre-beatles, hopped-up, rock / party music. Little Richard, Gary "U.S." Bonds, others. If you're curious.

I found the image, and posted it in the "other traditional" gallery of the Growing Artists group. It's not as elaborate as the above effort, but it was fun to make.
