Description
I finished the glow cups I posted the other day. Oh man, I think these are my favorite pieces to date.
I wanted to get them posted because last time I made glow cups, I didn't have time to and they ended up selling out.
Details:
- The rays and octopi were hand sculpted from polymer clay, as were the corals.
- The water is a clear resin.
- The glow in the dark pictures were barely edited. They really do glow that brightly.
- No, the glow won't run out and should last for years.
- These will be sold at Florida SuperCon. If you're going, I'll be at booth 303 in the exhibitor's room. I am hoping I have time to make more for MetroCon the weekend after SuperCon.

These are awesome! My mother would totally love one of these! If you don't mind me asking, what brand of clear resin do you use??

how do you make them glow? glow in the dark clay? or special resin? i am trying to better my clay making skills and i LOVE water pieces and was wanting to make scientifically accurate bioluminescent fish in cups!

Is it the sand that glows? I mean since the water is the clear resin, and the rest is from polymer clay, then its the sand that you used?
Also, do they only glow under black light?

It's not the sand itself that glows, but the glow is on the sand.
Nope! I don't use a black light for my photos. They were charged under a regular light.

So basically all that's needed is to leave it under a normal, light bulb powered (that's a new term that I'm going to continue using) lamp for a couple minutes or hours or whatever, and turn off the lights and then it glows like that?
Sorry if I seem rude or anything, they really are spectacular, I just want to make sure I could actually see one glow as I don't have a blacklight but am considering buying one of your products once your Etsy shop opens.

Yep! The more light they get, the longer they'll glow. Sunlight is the best light source but even leaving them out under a regular light bulb will make them glow.

quick question about sunlight, whats the top temperature before the resin melts?

I don't know for sure (though I'm sure Google would), but it would be a far greater temperature than what would result after letting it sit in sunlight all day.

How do you keep the sand layer from rising and dispersing through the resin when it's poured?

Oh my god these things are amazing Your use of the glow-in-the-dark material is fantastic, bright and lovely and not cheesy or neon

The amount of need I have for things that glow in the dark is immense and these just rocketed to the top of the list.
But alas, I live in Canada. I'm assuming it's glow in the dark clay?

I do plan on making some more for Etsy, and I do ship internationally. No, it's not clay.
