A nice shot, but black and white shots are always much better when there is some white, as opposed to just black and gray. Good otherwise, though.

It's very unique, and it fits well for black and white. I'll also, suggest for next time, to play with the shading of the image and lighting so it's a little bit cearer. Other than that, it looks great.

First of all, this image is not overexposed. It's underexposed, if anything. Overexposure would turn your whites into blinding whites and your blacks into greys, you'd have no shadows. This is a very dark image, but as you said you were going for the dark images in the forum, then I'll assume it was on purpose :-D

Using a direct on-camera flash is tough when you're lighting subjects that are further away. The flash dissapates very quickly, and it leaves your distant objects generally underexposed. But since you like the darkness of it, and the door does have an eerie feeling with that darkness, the problem the on-camera flash gives this image is the stark shadows and foreground brightness. Our eyes are generally drawn to highlights, so when your highlights are in the foreground, it tends to overpower the background and the darker areas of the image.

Compositionaly, I like this image, though I think I would crop out the basket looking deal on the top. I also think that by cropping out that basket deal, it would eliminate a lot of the foreground highlight, and if you burned the sides in a bit I think that might help even more. I would maybe brighten the whole thing just a little, but not too much since the darkness definately provides a certain atmosphere for the image.

All in all, a good image, I'd just make a few changes.

Good job :-D

I agree that this is a little overexposed. I think this is a good stock piece, but as an actual photo it lacks a little. It think your centre of focus (the door) is a little too dark, which kind of makes you focus on all the other details. This can be good, but because the other objects don't really tell a story it makes it a little "full". Still quite a nice black and white piece.
