Description
This is what happens when I get inspired by Jingna's (zemotion ) gorgeous bridal editorials, and then watch too much Walking Dead.Or it's what happens when I try to act like a normal female digital artist and paint a froo-froo glamour portrait, with questionable results.

It makes me think...a woman and her sister. Her sister turned and she can't bare to let her go. So she keeps her away and takes care of her. Kind of a old New Orleans hoodoo zombie thing...so amazing. Β

I love your work in many levels. You are one of the very few artists that I've been following for over five years, without ever questioning your abilities to make people look so "altered" and yet so humane. But in this particular artwork of yours I found one of the characters I've created for a short Warhammer story almost 2 years ago. Interesting you mentioned Walking Dead, since the first thing that same into my mind when I saw this is what a future family photo might look like if Andrea hadn't shot her sister when she turned.
I love the work you did on the face and the grappling hand adds nicely to the anger/frustration that poor creature must be feeling!

Scars can vary so much that there's not really anything I can give as a tip... I use real scarring as inspiration/reference to help me understand how damaged skin behaves and heals, and go from from there. Specifically knifing and acid attack victims for this image because I wanted a combination of dark incised scars and raised scarring. Your milage may vary depending on how strong a stomach you have for those kinds of photos.
I do use semi-soft edged brushes, VERY small, with a sort of hatching motion to blend... I find this gives me a good texture and level of detail without being too sharp. Everything else depends on the wound it's coming from though.
