I know that this is a commission for another author, but he could also very easily be "The Painted Man" from Juliet Marillier's book "Son of the Shadows" (it's one of my favourites and well worth a read!). Absolutely stunning work

I love the picture, all that dark climate, details, character's position and move, but... The character. I seem Arlen (The Painted Man, The Deliverer or however you'll name him) is about 30, while in your art it looks like he's 13, ok, maybe 18. I imagine him as a hard man, not easy to crush, with no fear in his mind, "half demon" after many fights with corelings (as written in "Desert Spear"), man that causes terror in as oblivion monsters as in humans. etc. you know what I mean, right?
Except all that I have written, art is beautiful.

Arlen is a very intimidating man, but he's not a big guy. He's also in his mid-20's not his 30's.

Can't stop looking at this. I adored the book and I'm taking my time reading The Desert Spear because I don't want to end it!
This portrait is exactly how I imagined the character, but not even in my mind I could have come up with something this perfect. Great, great work!

i searched 'the painted man' last week, when i finished the desert spear, and was disgusted to see that no one had put up anything! This is amazing though! great detail, and he's more attractive than i had thought, which is always a plus

All the tattoos are designed by me, not based off of any alphabet. I had to look up Theban and I can see where there is some resemblance, but it coincidental.

I'm not positive what you are asking, but this character and the symbols belongs to a published author who paid me to create them. Both the painting and the symbols have been used on the cover and inside contents of his novels. You may not use them for your own purposes.
