No, not real...except it is a real dag I scanned (there was only a hint of an image on it) ... I wish it wasn't toxic to do them, cause I'd be doing them.

well, be careful when handling those dags. the surface, if its an antique one, has a thin layer of mercury iodine and bromine. highly toxic stuff.
u should use gloves and wash your hand thoroughly after handling.

I didn't know that and thanks for the tip! This one is an antique and has been removed from those little frames they are usually in. I don't touch it often...but I will for sure be careful!

thank you. I'm so pleased. I was uncertain about it at first and had a funny feeling ... insecure ... about it.

my friend is doing great. Amazingly so. she's still in the hospital..didn't have to have her foot amputated. It came back to life (well, they said something like that). she is in a similar situation to you and will be going home after a while but right now it's all physical therapy and getting her to the point where she can move around some.

that's good news hope goes well for her ...she needs to take it slow ...something I forget to do cos I want to go out and bike and walk etc ...but can't rush things or all the good will be undone ..

She will be the same way. Her life before all this was ultra busy with a job (physical therapy) and then a full time hobby job evenings or else classes. Weekends she'd hike or ski or ride her bike. Very active. ...this will be really hard. On the good side, she looks awesome in that she's lost about 25 lbs or more!

i get so many feelings from this, so it's a bit hard to formulate an articulate comment...it's powerful and strong yet has a feeling of being trapped...preserved under a sheet of ice..ah hell, i dunno..it's thought provoking and i like that about it...

Thanks. I just love it when someone 'reads' my work and gets it... at some level I didn't even know was there. But what you've said speaks volumes about my life right now.

I love this it reminds me of all the old and beautiful photos that I just received from my aunt of the women in our family. I also thank you for all your kindness. Wished you live around the block.

Wow. This is pretty epic.
What did you do here? Just layer 2 shots?

Layered a scan of an old daguerrotype (one without an image visible) with a self portrait.

Almost like a Shroud of Turin style image.
But more real

You paint yourself with wonderfully rich deep and complex colors. This, along with your other view, paint a most interesting person.

Outside In
Safe in the shadows,
your words held back...restrained.
I wonder in your darkness,
do your thoughts mirror the same?
*not my poem but what this image made me think of*
beautiful portrait

Yes. It is definitely some part of me. I have a bright open side... and another introverted one.

That reminds me of Dorian Grey. It has a really haunting feeling behind it. I keep watching it to make sure it's not going to move. Truly lovely.
