Description
MV Leviathan is now complete! The superliner will be 1,212 ft long (212 being a nod to the original SS Leviathan’s official yard number) and will be a streamlined beauty!
The ships interior decor will be themed to various decades of America’s history, but will chiefly have modern Art Deco interiors. Various public spaces from the SS Leviathan will be faithfully replicated within the confines of this superliner.
The various restaurants and lounges will center around themes from American history, such as 1950’s style dining (made to appear as the interior of an old diner) and other relatable decor.
She will have an outdoor theatre, located in “The Dip” between the two imposing stacks where retractable skylights can open to the fresh air on good weather days. She will boast five large swimming pools (two outdoor, three indoor) and will boast some of the finest entertainment and cuisine that the USA has to offer.
Her accommodations will permit 90% of guests outward looking staterooms and cabins (balconies) so if you get seasick, this is NOT the superliner for you!
Unlike her namesake, this Leviathan will utilize podded propulsion for maneuverability in ports of call. This was decided on because of her length and surface area. She will, like my United States, be entirely fireproofed and will utilize a honeycomb like material to help reduce the ships weight substantially and all furniture will be made of aluminum.
The grey areas on the mast, stacks, and aft decks will be glass that, at night, will be illuminated to really give Leviathan a unique look, unlike many other ships.
Many have emailed and privately messaged me over the past two weeks about adding a third funnel to the liner. Let me address why the decision was taken to NOT do so. A third funnel would require either an entire redesign of the upper most portion of the ship, or the stacks to be redesigned entirely to make them slimmer in order to accommodate the third stack. Furthermore, she would have to be lengthened by between 60-80ft to accommodate a third stack to keep the sleek profile of the ship. After conferring with a friend of mine who is a naval architect, we sketched out the design as is, and added a third stack and moved them around, redesigned them, etc. In the end, it was decided by myself to not have a third stack at all. This gives the ship her own look, and permits the SS Leviathan to retain her unique appearance, while carrying on her name. A third stack also wastes valuable deck space, and stability and wind issues were also taken into account in this decision.
