I am totally in love with this style.Simple. Colourful. Edgy. Grungy.
Hellllllyes.
So this is an entry for , their Valentine's themed contest: any animal that is/made pink and purple.
This morning I painted a different entry. Then once I scanned it, adjusted it in photoshop, I realized that I hated it.
Looked like a juvenile colour-me, with a really fruity theme. Therefore I scrapped it.
This is much more suited to me.

Oh wow. I literally said, 'It's so pretty' out loud when I saw this. Absolutely GORGEOUS work. I love the grunge look, especially since I've never seen it done on a butterfly before.

I used mostly watered-down acrylics for the splatters, with a little bit of purple watercolour because I didn't have the paint to mix that kind of colour with acrylics.

This is amazing, I love it. The colours just work so well with the design and the patterning. It would make a great tattoo

Usually I'm not a girly-colour kind of person, but I'm rather fond of this.
I'm still not quite sure about the little white "negative space" butterflies though...should they be black? White? Non-existent?

To be honest, I am not sure they need to be there, they work, but I would say they are not necessary. I also wanted to point out that it looks a bit like a tiger face in the wings of the butterfly
