In ambush combacts my mage Hawke always takes Anders, Merrill and Varric. With both Hawke and Anders turning healing Aura on, the entire party can do range attack and when someone's health is low we just run away for a while, that works all the time.

well, Ander's healing seems to be a great less effective in DA2 than in Awakening.
But I gotta admit, his spell for reviving all inconscious party members with full health is useful.
But I don't want my characters to be inconscious in the first place

True enough my point of thinking was she is a healer besides anders....also i forget but cant merril also be leveled to have healing too? *scratches head* i cant recall off the top of my head cause honestly i never used anders i hated his DA2 story bits besides his quests for each chapter that i only ever did to get the XP sides that he did his creepy plotting and clinic stuff

I'm not sure merrils a healer i mostly use her for entropy and elemental magic but mage hawke can heal so theres that and yes DA2 really did ruin his character and honestly wth is he a romantic interest sure his good looking but personality wise not interesting in the least almost as bad as fenris(god i hate that brooding elf).

A boss fight against a 4 enemies with the holy triforce DPS-Tank-Healer (and another DPS...and maybe the tank for crowd control, I dunno.) would be pretty fun.
