Description
To commemorate his new album... This dude, in my eyes, is the undisputed king of the beat. NO ONE does it better than him.I credit Pete and C.L., the track 'T.R.O.Y.' more specifically, with being the first hip hop joint that got me into really paying attention to the lyrics, as opposed to just vibing to the music. I was about 10 or 11 when that came out, and it just spoke to me like nothing I've ever heard before.
I decided to go with the Jamaican flag in the background as it's part of his heritage. That, and I wanted something more iconic so it wouldn't clash with him so much.

This is dope....Da Chocolate Boy Wonder!!! I got to see Pete and Little Brother live in Charlotte last September....that show was sooo dope! (LB puts on one hell of a live show!!! If you haven't already and you ever get the chance to go and see Little Brother live....take it! You won't be disappointed!) I knew Pete's LP was droppin soon, when does it come out?
I love me some Pete, but I must say that IMO DJ Premier is the king of the beat! (Love his mixes and gotta love Primo's extraneous use of the bells!) Pete's definitely up there, along with Dilla, 9th Wonder, Madlib, Kanye, Timbaland, and The Neptunes.

I also forgot to say, yeah, I caught LB live... RIDICULOUS. Probably the best show I've been to... And I've been to plenty.

Yeah, those boys can put on a show! That was my third time seeing them at that particular show....can't wait until they come around and do another show here in the Carolinas.

I will admit, one of the only other dudes I hold in such a high regard is Preemo... And that was the best back in the day, like the early to mid 90's, when they were almost having this sort of quiet competition... They were doing and remixing EVERYONE'S beats back then, including each other's. That was seriously the Golden age for me.

Yeah, that's when hip hop could do no wrong! I must say from the years of 93 to 97 everything was dope and both Primo and Pete were doing their thing. To this day every time I hear joints like "The World is Yours", "NY State of Mind", "T.R.O.Y", "Emcees Act Like They Don't Know", "1,2 Pass It" (remember that old D & D Project posse cut?), and plenty others I just lose my shit and start bangin' out like it was the brand new ish!!! I don't get to do that too much with some of the newer hip hop out there now. I miss that shit for real!

Of course I remember that joint... Jeru spit flames on that.
Super-scientifical madness
My status is the baddest every time I bless the apparatus
You wish to take me out so you study
Meanwhile my foes, mics and clothes are left bloody
Cruddy, filthy from the ground on up, when I plan my attack I doubt that you're ready
Rain on competition like razor-sharp confetti
Kung fu techniques from the perverted monastery
See Fu-Ru manipulates the microphone while rhymes like bullets penetrate ya dome
We bring more drama than Kevin Costner
No I'm not Jamaican, but yes I'm a rasta.
The Sun Rises in the East was my favorite joint all through high school... Those are some of the rawest Preemo beats ever.

Yeeeaaahhh!!!! You got that whole verse on lock! And then when he finished he says....."We about to bounce like a bad check like my man Mr. Davis used to say." That joint was so dope! I even went to Youtube and watched the video yesterday after I bought it up. I wonder what ever happened to Jeru? I know he came out with one underground joint, but haven't seen anything from him since. "Come Clean", "Ya Playin' Yourself" (Dopest Video Ever), and "Can't Stop The Prophet" (That was my SHIT!!!! "Yo, look towards the darkness!" "Nah, look towards the light!" "Yo, it's.....it's......it's.....I!") was the heat back in the day!
Smif and Wesson killed it on that D and D joint as well! As well as strong showings by Fat Joe and KRS-One. I miss the way Hip Hop used to be!

I often feel like a old man as well saying the same thing....but in my eyes you're absolutely right. Jesus himself couldn't stand in my face and tell me that stuff like Solijah Boi Tell Em is better than anything from that period of Hip Hop! Even the wackest cats from then are better than most of the shit thats on the radio!
