Description Old Gundam, new kit
Real Grade RX-78-2 Gundam

New Gundam, old kit
High Grade O Gundam

Decided to leave the RG kit's color scheme as it is, since i've learned the 2nd RG kit will be Char's Zaku II.

I've also preordered that one ^_^

0 gundam looks great here! (if lacking in technical detail the way the RX-78 is) 00 the series was cool and all, but the MS of that series were more "super-robot" than "real-robot", even the non-gundam MS, and especially in the second half of 00. everyone flies super fast, shoots super accurate ultra damaging shots, and still somehow setsuna can out-fly lasers... i watched the whole thing, but it was kinda meh for the most part.

like I said tho, both models look great! I especially like the weathering on RX-78

thanks!

and no >_> it was one of my first models actually... brought like a year ago. from when i was buying HG kits mostly and not painting them.

when i run out of kits, i'll deal with all those "plastic" HG models hopefully...

I like how the real grade gundam has different shades of white for it instead of just one shade.

yes
it really makes it stand among other 1/144s
you have to do some serious masking to achieve that in high grades ^_^

you could've cut off the nubs on the 0 gundam's vfins. it's what makes HG awkward for me :s

HobbyV In reply to theherozion [2010-09-20 04:41:09 +0000 UTC]

hmm... it doesn't look as awkward on the model...
looking at the photo, it might be a good idea tho.

I typically dont like High-Grade models so i just ignore them and get the MG variants. However, i am curious about the Real Grade Gundam. Do you like it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HobbyV In reply to waitingtoolong [2010-09-19 19:38:07 +0000 UTC]

i liked it very much actually ^_^
it has a lot of detail, comparable to MG models and even better than some MG kits.
inner frame comes assembled on sprues but nonetheless, it gives great atriculation to the kit. it's fingers are also atriculated.
mold is pretty good too. since the parts are very small, there are very few imperfections on the injection, you can get away without painting it i've used just some washes, drybursh and a matt overcoat here.

personally, i'm goin' to collect RG kits whenever possible

Sounds like a good deal! I wasn't really sure i was interested in them or not. They seem to be received quite well by the gunpla community. Honestly, i will probably hold off for Char's Zaku and get that one! Thanks for your feedback!
