Boy, it’s been a while since I adapted an Epica song into a photo. There have been some Epica songs that “spoke” to me since, huh, 2009ish, but not to the degree of Rivers, from their latest album Omega, which is why I just had to take this photo.

After getting the mental image while listening, I chose a minimalistic approach to refine it, with just a few key words from the lyrics to give more depth – namely the “lifting the veil” part – focussing most on the titular “rivers”, represented by the flowing tears.

Although that's really just eyedrops, I’m very satisfied with how I managed to emote in this photo. I’m somewhat wary of showing this much vulnerability in public, usually preferring to filter it through many layers of symbolism and whatnot, but this photo needed some raw emotions to work. Also, after over one year I’m beginning to feel severe self-portrait fatigue, which means I really have to push my boundaries to still feel interested in putting my damn face on yet another photo until I get vaxxed and can hang out with other people again without having a nervous breakdown afterwards.

Oh, and since tears are really bitchy to get on a photo, full view is absolutely recommended.
