wake, up.
that's right,
the morning's beat you again,
she's already up and dancing light across the floor,

ruffled hair and sleepy eyes,
wander to the bathroom,
holding on to that warm feeling of rest.

still slightly dizzy,
from the last time i was awake?
white wine and chocolate wrappers,
i drank my worries to watery depths,
tired commuters passed below the window,
street lights outside, blurred,
that night, smudged into the morning.

the poem is inspired by the flat i stayed in while i was in paris.
4 rooms, kitchen and living combined, bedroom, bathroom.
7th floor up. with the lift not working.
but it had the best view.
