It would be good to see something
of yours that you considered an
improvement on "Sorrow"...!

Thanks, I'll ponder a proposal for a
commission...

absolutely... an improvement on "Sorrow"....?
A figure-portrait? One of the few areas to improve
on that would be with a broader palette...
....that pose is flattering, graceful, suggestive,
and has flawless aesthetics...I am partial to classical
poses, but that modernity (?) succeeds...

Have you seen delumine'sd work by any chance?
I believe that his color palette is wonderful...

I agree with your comment on a broader palette. My first teacher preferred a limited palette (its also easier for a new artist), but as I have become more competent I've played more with colours. What is amazing is how one starts to see colours in a far more nuanced manner, but that only really comes with experience.

Yes I've seen the artist's work, I have one of his paintings in my favourites

Yes indeed. A simpler palette is much much easier.
At any skill level, I think. I have done some good drawings
- but greatly aided that they are monochromatic!
Color I've often added afterward, as a very separate project,
and sometimes it just doesn't work, to add color toΒ
a bw drawing...sometimes it does... I wish I could
paint better, but not yet...monochromatic drawing,
and separate coloration, are still relatively easy for Β moi
albeit drawing well takes me an age lol ...Β

Wholly digital, the abstract, and nonrepresentational
are a different matter!

I've checked out your gallery, I like your drawing. Abstract art is so completely subjective though, either you like or you don't. In my case I'm simply not experienced enough to appreciate it. I see you are mostly digital. I ran away from my computer and haven't looked back (unless to check mails!). There is something terribly exciting about oil paint which i figure is worth exploring (imo).

Art shouldn't be rushed, its like a pregnancy... it will damn well come when its ready!!

Thank you. I am still learning....

I think the future is a fusion of traditional
and digital, esp judging from what I've seen
of the artists in galleries ..... I thought I
knew of the possibilities..., but I was blown away
by many successful artists in Frisco
that I have seen a few times in a large yearly exhibit...
There re some notes re that on my dofaust id:
dofaust.deviantart.com
c.f. artmarketsf.com
My imagination is far ahead of my technique....
including digital tools and techniques...Β
The abstract is intentionally subjective
per the artists of the early 20th C onward...
There is much to be said about the abstract...

....comments appreciated....
cheerio

Checked out your other account. Why have the 2?
Yes, I'm convinced that artists won't completely step away from traditional art as I suspect we enjoy the mess and tactile nature of paint, glue, pencils etc.
LOL... i'm making baby steps, abstract is for later...

For a time, its simply been convenient to
have one uncontroversial galley, with
little or no outre avant-garde aesthetics....
Of course the outre ID is much preferred
with few exceptions by literati,
Β artists, and genuine illuminati...Β

I think you are right about the traditional/tactile...
and...although made with digital tools
the media by accomplished artists I see at galleries
invariably transcends the always-too-small
computer monitor in favor of nearly life-sized
canvases... or even larger...at some point I willΒ
move most or all of my images to such...the
few I have already done that with have been
better appreciated/received than I expected...
"triptich aliyah" is a good example esp on fabric....
And....you may be surprised how nice one's work is,
when printed on translucent glass....
.....all it takes is $.... for better or worse....
cheerioΒ

I guess I may be tempted to print some of my digital illustration at some stage (once I create something I really like). For now i'm just enjoying painting. Its really just art for art's sake, whereas digital is mostly motivated by money. Thats why painting is so refreshing for me
good luck!

Perhaps the aesthetics of large painted works
may attract you in future...I never hadΒ
enough $ to spare for large art, except for a few years,
and for me too its always been about the
satisfaction of creating, and being in small circles
of viewers/artists...
cheerio and all the best
