Thanks to Gregg Friedberg for kindly letting me use his photography as reference. I'm so rusty with male anatomy, will be having to draw way more guys for a whileRelated content

that this also had good lines,
although not as accomplished
as a few of your others...
I would love to see the "Arising"
and the "Sorrow" figure's skin
colors with this,
on your male figures...

Thank you, this was one of my earlier drawings so I guess I've improved a bit
I originally wanted to paint a male nude, but then I think I got a bit intimidated... silly really. I'll get back into male nudes next year I think, skin tones are just so different. I definitely think that the female figure is over-exploited.

DA can always use more good figurative art... !
There's way too much "glamour" imo... but...
Nudes, esp heroes, gods, royalty (males??) have been the single most popular subject
in western art the past few thousand+ years...notice though that
the attic Greeks set some standards that haven't been surpassed....
Too bad that their painting hasn't survived!
Interesting that the (Victorian/Prudish) 19th cent was an esp
good time for the nude in art...
If I may ask, for templates/models, will you go to workshops? use photos?

lol... I have realised I really need to brush up on art history
I use a combination of live models and photography. At workshops and figurative art classes I have access to beautiful (mostly female) models, but i still don't feel comfortable painting from life. Here DA has been incredibly useful, photographers have generously allowed me to use their photos as reference

...why do I never hear of performance
art here in N. Calif? I think its correlated with
some obscure demographics, or
the rise in search engines......it was not always
so, the 60s-80s hereabouts were good times
for the art/literary/music scenes, and other
outre scenes...
