Description
This shot has been on my mind for a while. Someone mentioned they wanted to buy some 'cut glass' once and I wrote it down. I have a whole list of ideas that I keep. If something striked interesting I write it down. I shot this a couple other times but I didn't like it.Dremel tool used to cut a slot in the glass (actually have pictures of it) and the razor blade was crazy glued in.
Lighting. All backlit. 2 flashes pointing directly at the background. Really traditional way of lighting glass. White background about 4 feet behind subject. 1/30th shutter speed to capture a blurred drop. 100 clicks to capture the right drops.
You would think I had won 'the apprentice' last night after this frame was shot. I saw it in the camera preview and was hootin and hollerin. I get too worked up over this stuff some times... LOL

I love love LOVE this photo! The blurred drop IS a bit jarring, but I think it adds to the photo in a positive way.

Nice job!
I've been wanting to use glass in my mediocre photography, but never had any good ideas on how to light it. Everything looks awsome in this shot; I can see why you were so pleased with the end result. :]

Damn. That's hot. I totally thought it was a computerized picture for a bit there. It's pretty cool that you can get that kind of affect normally.

i like it but the drips falling off it sort of look fake and kind of ruin it for me.
still a wonderful piece, don't let me get you down, i'm just uber picky about sharpness.

I just have a question: what do you do with all of your martini glasses and stuff after you've shot them?

Usually just store them, drink out of them or if they're broken save them for another shot. Sometimes I save them as props. This glass (with the blade still crazy glued into it) is sitting on my desk at home. I have my prop "art" everywhere in my house. LOL
