Description This shot has been on my mind for a while. Someone mentioned they wanted to buy some 'cut glass' once and I wrote it down. I have a whole list of ideas that I keep. If something striked interesting I write it down. I shot this a couple other times but I didn't like it.

Dremel tool used to cut a slot in the glass (actually have pictures of it) and the razor blade was crazy glued in.

Lighting. All backlit. 2 flashes pointing directly at the background. Really traditional way of lighting glass. White background about 4 feet behind subject. 1/30th shutter speed to capture a blurred drop. 100 clicks to capture the right drops.

You would think I had won 'the apprentice' last night after this frame was shot. I saw it in the camera preview and was hootin and hollerin. I get too worked up over this stuff some times... LOL

isn't it funny how some phrases just strike you differently than they're intended. the english language is a very interesting form of inspiration. the idea of glass bleeding is really fun to think about since you usually think about glass as being the instrument to draw blood. (i have seriously sat here retyping for 5 minutes trying to find the best way to phrase that and haven't yet suceeded. the english language can be such a bitch) i like your shots with droplets in them. nice.

I love the definition...the random red, the dark dark razor and such bright contrasting background beautiful, beautiful work.

This is such a fantastic idea! I love the clean minimalism of the shot and the crispness of the blood dripping down the side. Who would have thought that glass could bleed?! I like that the razor blade shows as a silhouette, almost extracting it fromthe scene slightly. Lovely crop and great use of negative space to focus on the main object.

While the drop in motion does annoy me a tad, it's just a minor difference in an absolutely amazing shot. The concept is quite awesome as well. Makes me wonder how long you've been doing this sort of thing...

Just love it. I really enjoy photos which have an idea behind it, it's sometimes very hard to get those ideas out of your head, but when it works out it - it's all worth it.

I am sure you know this already, but this piece is just /amazing/. I saw it on the DTF, but didn't want to comment because you already had so many. I have a fascination with blood, but this is *so* far from the cliche that it stuns me. The glass is so crystal-clear that it seems unreal.. and those thick drops of blood sliding down the glass look completely incredible, and I have to say, the blurred drop falling down gives it an incredible sense of reality and realness.
