This is a great piece you've done here. The colors are fantastic and you've captured a lot of great detail on the overall image. You've managed to also capture a really weary expression on the orc. Even if it's not exaggerated and seems quite simple, you could really see the weariness on the orc's face and the overall weight of his body, just by his boy language.

With that said, while this is a very well done piece, there are a few things that do look a little distracting. Perhaps it's because you were doing it under a certain time and may have already noticed it, but I think it's still worth pointing out. Some parts of the image aren't as detailed or as sharp. The orc's face is quite detailed and sharp, but the rest of his body has a softer and lighter tone to it. The orc's face also has more black parts which give the more crisp feeling, whereas much of the other image lacks it. This doesn't ruin the picture, but it can stand out quite a bit, as it is contrasting.

Regardless, good job on this work. Nice detail on the orc and wolf!

Yes i agree 100%. It is really unpolished. Have to work on that. Thank you for your comment

Your artworks are absolutely fantastic! I love the recent fantasy turn you have taken! I initially came to your gallery to check you out after you sent me a llama, and I'm so glad I did!

I wish I could zoom in on this more because there's so much detail in the front! I don't know why, but I especially love the ground detail under the character, the lighting and detail of it is so meticulous despite how subtle it is. I also absolutely LOVE the coloring on the armor (specifically the creature's helmet and the warrior's shoulder armor). It's very naturally realistic and I love the over all look of it.

One suggestion I might make, however is in regards to the background. I've seen some other things from your gallery, and it appears to be a stylistic choice, and I myself can't even begin to fathom how to construct a workable background, so I feel as if I'm not really in any position to criticize. Still, I can't help but feel like the background's simplicity detracts from the foreground. It'd be awesome to see some different brushes used back there to give it a little bit of texture, but still that's only personal preference, just trying to tell you what I see!

Regardless, still awesome all around!

Oh yes, you're right about backgrounds. It's not a stylistic choice but simply laziness ( or sometimes lack of time). I really need to learn and work more on them. And this is always what I say to myself before each piece but then DEADLINE comes and you know how it is. Anyway thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it

Project Comment

I love World of Warcraft, so I may be a bit biased here, but I absolutely love this piece (and would totally love to see it on the loadscreens... come on Blizzard, use fanart for the loadscreens!).

The simplicity of the background draws the eye to the main focus of the image without leaving the piece as a whole looking 'empty'.

To sum it up, I'm so jealous of your skills *snaps pencil*

Keep on drawing

ProjectComment speaking:
The composition in this pic not only shows the characters position in relation to the fort but when combined with it they make a very nice silhouette. You've done a nice job on rendering the armour on both the orc and the worg. Though not too detailed, the different shades of dark paint you've applied to the hills give it a gritty, rough-and-tumble feeling which matches well with the 'war' theme with the piece.

CyanDietRoo [2017-11-27 00:09:28 +0000 UTC]

I LOVE THE COMPOSITION! To me it feels like the perfect way to do a simple background with the main focus being the character. You didn't totally ignore the background, but the detail is in the character, perfect!

Other than that, I would just recommend to add a little more contrast in the characters. You don't use lineart, so you have to make up for it by playing with shadows and contrast and such. A few areas where it's hard to see the edges: the paws of the creature and the ground, the creature's tail and the ground, and the goblin's left leg and cape. You did this in a few places in the piece very well, like the spiky thing coming off of the goblin's left shoulder, and the top of his staff.

These are all just observations though and could be wrong, but I think these things would help your art.

Edit: I just realized that you said this was for a challenge and posted early, so you may of been trying to do this stuff and just didn't finish.
