Description My illustration for the FMA CYA challenge - though it is very late. I hope the lovely Gaia will forgive me.

Sketched using the Revoltech models as reference as well as many friends and neighbors who got snatched to make prone bodies. Those action figures are AMAZING! You can pose them almost any way imaginable. I had little Alphonse locked in that position for several months with orders that no one in my house was allowed to move either him or my lamp to insure the integrity of the light source and position. At least now the poor guy can put his arm down.

Other references and textures from the Photoshop program sample library and my twisted brain. Thanks to Alchemyotaku75 for her invaluable beta.

Thank you, Arakawa-shi.

I will! I often try looking at pics to get inspiration for stories. (though I have too many stories as it is...) what is beta? maybe, I'm not sure. I'll see if I can use it sometime.

Ah, a beta is someone who proof reads your story before publishing. Β When you are writing it, you are so close to the work that you may not see things like missing words, typos, punctuation errors, etc. Β Your beta's job is to clean your stories up so that they can be enjoyed to the fullest. Β Believe me, beta'ed stories are WAY easier to read than un-beta'ed ones - and an author learns more about writing when their work is critiqued by someone who knows what to look for.

Don't suppose you have a story behind this pic that carries past to Al having to take care of Ed himself because hospitals and doctors are out of the question? Maybe one of their adventures that goes all the wrong ways to hell?

Awww! Thanks! I was pleased with it too and having the little model right there to draw from made a huge difference. About the only thing I wasn't pleased with was the background and I'm giving serious consideration to redrawing it with the aid of a perspective program. Maybe then the background will suit the foreground better. Hehe! Thanks for the lovely comment. :*

Wow...This is amazing! It's actually left me kinda speechless ^_^; I can sense a strong brotherly love feel in this and it's just amazing, you did a really great job on this! and you kinda got ideas forming in my mind for when I improve my art
Overall, I love it! It looks like you put in a LOT of effort and you made it look really nice! ^^

Arielphf In reply to Agepoyo17 [2012-08-29 05:01:37 +0000 UTC]

*grin* Thank you! I did put a lot of effort into this - but it was mainly because I had such a great model and the details were all there for me to sketch. I've always been able to draw what was in front of me, but anime drawing has really pushed my limits, encouraged me to try stuff I haven't before and given me new tools I've never tried using before. I appreciate your support in my efforts!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Agepoyo17 In reply to Arielphf [2012-08-30 00:42:26 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean I really don't like trying to draw with just an image in my mind.... =u=; I often make mistakes that way. And with reference, you can really see how close you got to what it would really look like. Anime drawing does do that to you If it weren't for anime, I'd still be drawing heads with arms and legs! Haha~ But yeah, keep up the good work! It's amazing!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Arielphf In reply to Agepoyo17 [2012-08-30 03:13:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, my unreferenced art is nowhere near as nice, unfortunately. I'm still working on it though and hopefully by drawing lots more I'll one day be able to sketch things out of my head. Well, that's what I'm working towards. Thanks again!

*grin* Thank you. Having such a readily available model made drawing this easier in some ways but it also encouraged me to include details I might not have otherwise. It took me ages, but the way folks are responding to this piece make me feel it was well worth the effort.

I can really see that you put a huuuuge amount of effort in this piece! I love every last bit of it, the bloody Edo too~ I gotta admit I kinda have a fetish for angst!Ed and bloody!Ed...

Oh, you have come to the right place for angst!Ed and bloody!Ed... LOL! I have something of a fetish. *cough*

If I have something in front of me to draw from, then I'm quite comfortable and can do this kind of art. The problem is that I haven't the skill (yet!) to be able to sketch something out of my head like the anime people do. When I can do that, then I'll consider myself skilled. *blush* You are entirely too kind!

WOW this is amazing considering you used a Revoltech model ^w^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Arielphf In reply to OtakuRhi [2012-08-20 09:56:01 +0000 UTC]

It's probably only amazing *because* I used the Revoltech models! I've always been good at drawing things that were in front of me - but the folks I envy are the ones who can sketch things purely out of their own head. Those are the folks I admire. One day, maybe, if I practice a lot, I'll be able to do that sort of artwork too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Arielphf In reply to SoullessElric [2012-08-20 02:27:11 +0000 UTC]

BTW, my blood splatters are photoshop brushes that I downloaded off the internet. There are TONS of them out there you could download too. Just look for "blood" and "photoshop brushes" and you'll find lots to choose from. Credit me for the placement of the blood, but the splatters themselves are someone else's hard work. *blush*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SoullessElric In reply to Arielphf [2012-08-20 17:10:58 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okay. I'm not planning to use them, I think my dad wouldn't want me to download stuff, he's really paranoid about that stuff. The rest of my art doesn't seem up to par with photoshop brushes anyways.
