I've been known as The Angst Maven for most of my life due to the fact that I can handle angst that would possibly kill most normal humans.You don't need blood and gore to make something angsty - you can use it, of course - but the angst I like best is situational; the kind where you pause to take a breath and the image that you take in suddenly freezes your heart....
THAT'S the kind of angst I like.
Anyway, I've been obsessing over this single scene that was never shown in the anime or manga and yet we know must have happened. In other fandoms, I've written these kinds of events into fanfics - but with FMA
, and the lovely new wacom tablet I got, I can illustrate them!The neatest thing is, I thought it would be difficult to get the look of the character right, but unlike live humans who have a million planes, angles and shapes that you must get right in order to capture them, all these anime characters have is a couple of lines! And if you didn't get it right the first time, the computer lets you move that line until you do! No smudges, no eraser burnouts and no wearing through the page! How cool is that?

Nope, not dead. This is an image from a part of the anime where he's been impaled on a metal beam. He shows up in the anime several months later all healed and I wanted to draw some of the intervening time. Glad you liked it!

I love finding people that have that in common. FMA has so much angst. I didn't even KNOW what angst was before I watched that show XD haha.

Watch Darker Than Black, it is so amazing and epic. the main character is like Batman, yet darker. 8D

Good angst is hard to find, so anyone who has some ability and a liking for it is definitely doing me a favor! Darker than Black, huh? I know folks who watch it but haven't gotten to it yet.

Would you believe that's what I was going for? I'm such an angst maven, but I love that little heart in your throat moment that you can get - it's a thrill (when it's in a story at least!) that I just can't resist.

That's the idea! I actually did write a fanfic for the picture (also on my profile under the same name) but if it gets you curious enough to write something for it yourself, I would feel honored and would love to read it. I hope it inspires you to create something great!

i'm kinda the way you are, i can look at a peice of art, or read a fanfic, or watch an animation and i handle those situations pretty well, and half the time i'm coming up with those angsty situations myself!

I am just like you in your love of angst...
there is just something so powerful about it...where your heart just stops in awe of the breath taking beauty of it all, and you can barely breath... 
There was a time I imagined this scene...but since I am not an artist the best I can try to do is paint scenes with words. But you, you managed to bring this moment of anguish and silent pain to life...and this...this is beautiful

I'm so glad you like this piece! It was really the first one I tried using the manga style and I like the way it comes out. I do like brotherly fics - though I don't do incest. The love they share is far purer and doesn't deserve such debasement. If you have stuff that you think I'd appreciate, I'd love to see it.
