Forgive me for this, but all I can think of is "come at me bro"

I think this piece has an incredible feel to it even though I don't know anything about digital art. I'd like the cross on top of the King to be more pronounced or not touching anything else for some reason and I also think the background should be something else...not sure.

thank you for your comment and advice.
You are absolutely right, shifting the camera a bit and making cross stand out is a great idea,I will do it in re-render of this drawing, at some point.
I will play with backgraound too.
Thank you.

i really like the meaning of this piece. at least to me, i see it as "1 vs the world" or at least in that sense..

Thank you. I liked this idea and decided to work on this idea with what materials I had at the time, which was a modeled chess set I made.
I think quality needs an extra boost. But with so much helpful fit back I just need to find time to modify and re-render.

hmm, not bad, but there is something not quite right that is hard to place...
I think there is something wrong with the specular that you could look at, alos it is too clean, try adding a map for the diffuse to give a subtle sense of randomness and maybe even a little hint of a bump map... I would be surprised if belnder can't do this (if not get MAYA instead, lol )

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions.
Lol, Maya is a bit of expansive luxury for a hobby, at least the legal version :: , I have a free PLE version, but there are render and saving limits, so I do not use it that much.
I did not like the king reflection, too vivid, so I re-rendered him with a mask and multi-passed the new one over the older one.
I probably used to many lights, so thus the excessive specularity.
Thank you for the advice, I will try to diffuse specularity. Also noise and bump maps are no problem for blender, so I will try using them.
Thank you.
