This is an extremely well executed and detailed render. One of the best I have ever seen. I particularly like the color scheme as it fits well with the concept of "battles" or "going to battle." The lighting is also well done. I don't care for DAZ Studio's new Genesis character but this piece of work is certainly an exception. You should submit this piece of art work to some fantasy book publishing company. TOR Books comes to mind. I love working in Poser Pro but now you have me convinced I need to buy a copy of Vue for some final renders.

Wow, thanks for your well written critique. It's always a challenge to make the right decisions when it comes to composition, colors and postwork. I'm still a newbie, so I have a lot to learn before I submit my work to a publisher. But, maybe someday.

And you definitely have to purchase a copy of Vue. It's amazing what you can do with it. I still do the basic things, but as an experienced artist you can create epic landscapes. And the render engine is great. Slow...but greatΒ

Thanks again for your time and effort to write this critique. Means a lot to me and it inspires me to make new renders.

HaveΒ  wonderful day.

Gr,
Danny

I love her armor, the blood on her armor, her hair, its disarray, the dog (love the dog), the blood on the dogs front legs and maw, the fact that the horse is too weary from battle to carry her and so she leads it, the buildings in the background, the craggy ridgeline (which reminds me of home), the larch trees turned to gold, and those clouds. Did I mention that I loveΒ that dog?

My one tiny nitpick would be the sword. It is huge. I buy that she could wield a sword like that in battle, but, as exhausted as she is, I think that the way she is carrying that giant piece of steel, at a low angle, pointed forward, is unrealistic. I would like to see it sheathed on her back or, better, on the horse and perhaps see her armed with a short sword if anything.

But that's a minor nitpick. This piece is pretty killer. Many thanks for sharing it with us.

Wow, thank you very much for your awesome commentcdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/… ">! Is most appreciated. And the thing with the sword is true...I could have been nice to her and gave her a smaller one to carry But seriously, thanks a lot for your kind words and your honest feedback.

Nice work. I like to add water brushes around the feet if I was to do such a render. Of course, if it's a slow stream and they are moving slowly, these would be minimal.

The sky is awesome! Did you postwork it or is it stock from Vue?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Zwavelaar In reply to Berytak [2014-05-02 18:14:31 +0000 UTC]

I created the sky in Vue. It's a mix of two skies actually. And with some adjustments this is the result. Of course, in postwork I added some overall adjustments but not particularly for the sky.Β  Β
