Jamie has a specialised portal-space where they are able to store items as they wish, and summon as they wish. These items do not get lost. Ever since partnering with Patty however, they have often found items randomly appearing in their space. It seems like these items were abandoned, thrown away and forgotten, and have gravitated their way to Jamie. A lot of it is junk.

The larger the item, the harder it is for Jamie to store, and the heavier their steps become.

Jamie is able to open up to three portals into different spaces at a time - and between the portals is a space that seems to be the universe condensed. Various stars within this space lead to different places and shows different locations that one can access. There are some stars that remain dark; it seems that they are places Jamie has never been to, but have vague knowledge of. These dark stars are near impossible for Jamie to open a portal to and if they try, they usually find themselves lost and stranded from their original destination.

Jamie has never physically been in this space, though they have envisioned it. They simply pass through the portals to where they wish to be, and they have yet to figure out why. But those who have speak of endlessness and stars, of cosmos and breathlessness. Literally - there is no oxygen when travelling between portals for others. Life cannot be sustained here, and the longer the distance covered the higher risk there is for others. But as life struggles, with enough force, one can rip their own portal open from the inside and escape through any star - at a great cost to Jamie.

Initially they could only open portals within the area they were in, but partnering with Patty has allowed them to open portals wherever they are and wherever they have been, and brought to their knowledge the universe between their portals.

Using their wand as a conductor, Jamie brings a bit of space out into this universe. It's a smoky mini galaxy spouting from the tip of their wand, but they're not sure what this does. It's a recent discovery!

Personality:

Jamie has always done things on their own. Everything, on their own. They're independent and sturdy, never asking for help because... they simply don't know how to, and never had to. Without anyone to rely on but themselves, they developed an unshakeable confidence in themselves, like a compass always pointing north. But their confidence doesn't come without basis - behind their every action and every thought is logic and reasoning, put together like clockwork gears, built by trial and error. On the flipside, Jamie is only able to move forward with the reassurance that they know how things work, that they know the reasoning behind it, that they understand. And they will pursue for an answer no matter how long it'll take with razor sharp focus.

Because of their need to know how the world works, Jamie spends a lot of time observing their surroundings. They tend to pick up on the littlest things, though they may not understand what it means. And they don't understand a lot of things - social norms and niceties are lost on Jamie, as are many other 'human' things. They've simply never had the opportunity to learn such things... Like friends! And family! And emotions! Apologies? Personal space? They're not quite sure what that is, but they're open to learn.

Still, to bond with them is not easy, as they've never quite known attachment - nor do they find a need for it, if there is a chance it may cloud their judgement with bias. They would rather be a neutral party, despite often being quite vocal about their thoughts. They find it useless to hold back, and often speaks their mind. After all, they've found communication to be a way to gain knowledge, and knowledge is fundamental to understanding.

History:

Jamie was raised by people at one point, but they were never raised in a society. They were born in darkness, and for the most part lived their life in darkness. Perhaps there was light in their earliest years, for sometimes they remember a warm embrace, and sometimes they remember a cat, and sometimes they remember what seems to be a group of adults ensuring a child had what they needed.

But the vast part of their memory is within a dark house alone, with only books as their company.

Occasionally shadow puppets appeared, and these puppets became their teacher. But puppets are puppets, they were made to give Jamie what was needed, but never anything more. Anything Jamie did, they did not react to. These puppets also existed to teach magic, and to discuss magic, and to continue the lesson on magic, and to teach magic. There was but one exception - the puppets once spoke in Jamie's voice to teach them their own name and the language of humans, and then never again.

And so Jamie grew up, isolated.

  [ Curiosities ]

Jamie learned of nothing but magic. Everything they learned of the world was related back to magic and nothing more. Apologies, personal space - they were and still are an unfamiliar concept. With everything they learned explained in terms of magic, reasoned and explained by logic, they put their all into the only thing they know. Space magic in particular, seemed to be something they were quite proficient in.

Portal after portal after portal; yet no portal could lead them outside of the house. Their curiousities brought them nowhere, and with questions left unanswered, they slowly stopped. They were content with the world they were in, and sought nothing else; not even the creator of the puppets - a powerful witch, no doubt.

  [ Big Bang ]

Until they reached the subject of familiars. Jamie was encouraged to open a portal, to 'summon' a familiar, and indeed an anima appears in the lonely, lonely house. Jamie doesn't understand much of what they say, nor of how they managed to summon the anima in the first place, but they remain intrigued and curious. A pact is form without resistance from the house nor the puppets and when it is complete...

Their house dissolves, and they find themselves in a world they've never been before. With people they've never seen, norms they've never learned. They find all their belongings packed into a suitcase, and on top of it a letter with instructions to continue their education at St. Spell - to fight for the stars and their light.

Their universe has just begun.

Their eyes are weak to bright light, but they have good night vision.
They have very little understand of society and social constructs, and understand people and feelings even less.
Somewhat impressionable, and simultaneously extremely set in their way.
They speak without contractions and without slang.
