Papyrus is pretty chill when you kill him in a neutral or murder run. Makes you wonder if he's used to it.For ultimate sadness feel free to picture Papyrus (or Sans even) getting murdered shortly after this.

I did the pacifist and after that... I didn't play again. I chose let a happy ending <3Β

I play Undertale on the Switch, so if I want to play another pacifist route, I make a new profile instead of RESETting.
It's also how I avoid the consequences of my Genocide route..

When I did MY pacifist, I took the save data and put it in a seperate folder so it would be safe and NEVER reset.

Probably one of the biggest questions I've had about undertale is why doesn't sans do something sooner. In the game I can excuse it because I don't think sans can remember resets so he never knows how it's going to go. But if he is desperate enough to tell Papyrus then he should try to do something.

It's unclear how much Sans knows about SAVing, LOADing and RESETting, but it's surely enough for him to be aware that the player does multiple runs. During his battle he says "getting to the surface doesn't appeal anymore, either, because we'll end up trapped here again, without any memory of it". That's the reason why he threatens you in any of your runs, because he's aware of the power which allows you to simply change your mind, RESET and kill everybody on a whim. When he goes "You'd be dead where you stand" is a bit of a cautionary tale, to ensure that you stay on the right path and don't do genocide.
He also goes "don't say I didn't warn you" after you beat him, clearly referring to the files being corrupted at the end of the genocide run. He is clearly aware to some extent, his point being trying to put up the hardest fight of your life to have you QUIT the game and RESET, trying a different path since you can't go past him.

So why doesn't he do anything to stop you before the Judgment Hall? The simple answer is that he can't. Not only he knows that you'd simply LOAD your save and try again, but he does have 1 ATK and 1 HP. The only way he can truly put up a fight is when you accumulated enough LOVE for his KARMA ability to work properly. He doesn't try to save Papyrus because at that point, he wouldn't be much of a threat for the player. He doesn't warn the other monsters because no one can actively do anything against you in a genocide run. All the monsters (except Undyne) go down with one single blow, while Sans doesn't only because he dodges your attacks. And in a neutral but no-mercy run? Again, not enough LOVE accumulated for his KARMA to be effective. Also, he knows that most likely after a neutral run the player will simply RESET, since the ending is unsatisfying (both him and Papyrus know about endings, Papyrus outright talks about it in the True Pacifist), so it would be counter-productive for Sans to try and prevent the player from finishing their neutral run.Β
If you're still confused about how KARMA works, let's put it like this: Sans can deal only 1 damage, but your "sins" (all the murder you did) weigh on you and add "venom damage" to your health bar. That's how he's so powerful in the genocide run - his attacks turn poisonous because they're bolstered by all the bad things you've done. In a neutral run (or at any point of the genocide run except the very ending) your kill counter isn't high enough for Sans' power to work.Β
