Mazawa Amon

Position: Captain of Squad Two

Personality: Serious to a fault, may have never laughed. He is extremely dedicated and, after some training, highly scrict and self-disciplined.

Abilities: Skilled in all Shinigami arts, but his particular strengths are Shunpo and Hakuda (his Shunkou is the best in Soul Society's history). The manacles on his wrists function much in the same way that Kenpachi's eyepatch does, except it's a move he only gets to use once.

Zanpakutou: In its pre-release form, it takes the shape of the average katana. This is the form that Mazawa uses most often; he prefers to not release his zanpakutou because he feels that the abilities it possesses are an unfair and unnecessary advantage in battle. However, when he does use it, it is quite formidable. He releases shikai by saying, "Sleep, Hakuen." The translation for this name is "White Smoke," which is exactly what the zanpakutou begins to produce once it takes the form pictured here. This smoke is a drug. It inhibits the mind, makiing any opponent who inhales it lethargic and unfocused. Mazawa is unaffected because he has developed an immunity to the substance, which took several years. Perhaps the worst part about this ability is that the drug is highly addictive, which makes his bankai quite cruel. Once released, it takes the form of a much larger more wicked-looking blade which litereally does no more than intimidate his enemy. The true transformation is that the blade condenses all of the released drug from the environment (including from within his opponents) into a liquid that is only on the blade itself. The enemy, having become addicted to the substance, goes through withdrawals, making them quite shaky and anxious. They begin to crave the drug so much that they seek to be cut by Kanjinyume Hakuen ("Vital Dream White Smoke) and usually end up begging for wounds and even death. The spirit form of his zanpakutou is an emaciated, grimey old man who is is always tinkering with little gadgets and toys. He's a bit crazy but in an amusing way.

Background: Being the favorite OC I have ever dreamt up (which is saying something; I have like sixty) he has quite a detailed background. He was first accepted into Squad Six as a Fifth Seat Officer. He excelled, but the rest of his squad was also particularly strong, so it was difficult to advance. So he jumped at the chance to participate in a very dangerous mission. A member of one of the noble families, a princess, was abducted by hollows and taken to Las Noches. A small squad was spared to retrieve her. In Hueco Mundo, however, the team was quickly dispatched. Only Mazawa survived, and he became a test subject. During the process, he was transformed into a vaizard, a power that he never truly gained control of, but he only ever succumbed to it twice is his long life, and both times it worked favorably for him, according to his plans. He was bound by reiatsu-surpressing chains, but after a few years, he mustered up the strength to break free. He then located the princess, who was also being used as a test subject (chosen for possessing an unusually rare type of reiatsu) and managed to escape to Soul Society. He never removed the manacles on his wrists though. He kept them both as a reminder of his imprisonment and as a trump card in battle, for, if removed, he could experience a great swell in power. His return was highly celebrated (though he never revealed that he had become a Vaizard to his superiors), and, as a gift, the noble family offered him an honorary positions as a Royal Guard. The blue cape he wears is that very uniform, and he only takes it off to spare it damage in battle. He was then offered many lieutenant positions, but he only desired one, beneath Captain Soi Fong. He greatly admired her skills and leadership style, but at first she refused. She did not want to take an apprentice without a special ops background. However, once Mazawa proved himself by defeating her lieutenant at the time without even using his zanpakuto, she accepted him. After several years, Soi Fon felt he was ready to take a newly opened captain's position, but on the grounds that he had not yet achieved bankai, the Captain Commander refused. She sent Mazawa, instead to challenge Kenpachi for his position. The battle would have ended in mazawa's favor, except before he could thoroughly defeat Zaraki, the Captain Commander intervened. He then relieved Soi Fong of her captainhood for disobedience. At that moment, Mazawa requested his master's position on the grounds that he defeated her as well. The Commander agreed. They agreed to a hands-only battle, where Mazawa proved that his Shunkou had exceeded that of his master, and of hers as well. He won by using a hidden dagger, a sneaky tactic that he had since then refused to use. Soi Fong was proud, though, that he had put his pride aside to achieve his goal. After that, Mazawa did not even allow them to make his own personal haori. He simply wears Soi Fong's around his waist. Later, after the collapse of Seireitei (this is part of the fanfic I would like to wirte someday) he becomes the most famous general of the Shinigami Wars.
