Being a man of few words, it's hard to say whether or not Quince is a likely candidate for someone who wants a friend. This is due solely because he may come off as cold and blunt to those he may not be accustomed to, when in truth he's just very awkward around strangers. If he's able, he'd much rather observe a person from a distance to try and understand their mannerisms first before approaching them, and even then, he'd have to find a point of interest in even wanting to engage said person. He can't stand mindless banter or gossip, so he likes to be sure a person has more to talk about than subjects that are of no interest to him.

Due to this he's seen as a sort of introvert, which he doesn't mind. The less people he has to deal with, the less drama there could potentially be, and the less trouble he would have to divert. All-in-all Quince isn't hard to befriend, but one should not expect him to go out of his way to keep in contact. If it's convenient for him, it will happen, otherwise he'll wait until the next chance meeting.

On matters of religion, Quince is devout to Aurea through and through. Due to his upbringing in Delverne, he prides himself on his knowledge of the Gods, and is very easily offended should the conversation go south. He's quick to develop a bad temperament in his offense, and isn't afraid to use his words to hurt. He won't stand for blasphemy, and is very stubborn when it comes to the subject of religion. If you have nothing good to say about them, stay away!

Family-wise, he is obsessively over-protective of the women in his household. It was relentlessly hounded into him that the women of their house were a people to be respected and treated delicately, as they were the ones who would further the bloodline of their very proud family name. From this, he would develop an antiquated sense of chivalry. This upbringing paired with his poor communication, however, may have Quince come off as controlling and even chauvinistic to someone who doesn't know him well. Regarding matters of his sister, Marcella, he's almost aggressively over-protective, and will challenge anyone who brings up her mutation.

Overall, Quince is a hard person to read, and a lot of tolerance should be had when trying to befriend him. Once he is a comrade, he is one worth keeping. Just don't expect any letters!

History:

Quince is the first born child and only son to Callisto and Victhor Dinalagos, their pride and joy and successor to the Dinalagos name. As such Quince has always been very pampered and void of a life of hardships, all while dutifully studying and putting into practice the teachings of Aurea. His parents, determined to make him a proficient Clergymen when he came of age, made sure to keep him from unnecessary distraction, schooling him in their home and being sure he stayed poised and focus on his long-term goal. Due to this, he became very inept at socializing with anybody out of the household, even going as far to remove himself from any social gatherings his parents might coordinate. It wasn't that he hated people, but he never did appreciate the cross or questioning looks they would give him when he had "nothing nice" to contribute to their conversations.

Like any young child, though, Quince secretly craved for human interaction and a place to properly belong. That interaction would come in a most surprising form - his younger sister, Marcella Dinalagos, who would be born into the family twelve years later. Her birth would cause an unsettling atmosphere in the Dinalagos household, as she was not born with the typical light hair and eyes that all Light Elves possessed, but instead dark hair and dark eyes against fair skin. Though he did not outwardly say it, it was evident that Victhor would assume his wife had committed adultery with some deplorable Dark Elf, and he would spend most of his days with excuses to be out of the house. Quince did not approve of the new face in the household for quite a while, doing his best to avoid his little sister whenever she sought him out, but Marcella was persistent. Eventually, Quince grew to love her despite her curious mutation, and she would become his most trusted friend.

Despite Quince's acceptance of Marcella, though, the rest of the family had all but ostracized her, never uttering a word of her existence. They made absolute sure to keep her out of sight, even going as far as to lock her up in her room while they went through with their extravagant parties and gatherings. This would go on for years, Quince in the meantime growing more distant from his mother and father, and being sure utilize their alone time to teach Marcella to read and write, as well as teach her how to utilize her magic. Marcella learned quickly and was always eager to start their sessions, especially sessions where she got to practice her healing, but through her cheery disposition, Quince was able to see just how lonely and afraid she really was. After so many nights of catching her crying alone in her room, he decided he would do something about it.

Through his Father, Quince would make some coin by restoring old tomes for his clients. Quince would work hard day and night to complete orders much farther in advance than his clients would need, taking any new jobs his Father would bring home to him. During this time, he had come up with a plan. Once he had been able to scrounge up enough coin, he put his plan into action. Quickly packing whatever bare essentials they would need, Quince and Marcella fled the Dinalagos home on the darkest of nights and made their way south to Cantor. Here, Quince swore to never again use the magic taught to him, and instead took it upon himself to learn the ways of hunting game to sustain their new life.

Additional info:

- During the years he worked for his father, Quince developed rather poor vision and bad tendonitis in his writing hand while working late nights under candle light. Marcella has restored what she could, but regardless it prevents him from seeing in the dark and from keeping a firm grip on his crossbow

- Not at all related to his poor eyesight, he's a rather careless hunter. He has yet to learn the basics in the ways of killing game, and is too stubborn to learn correctly from strangers

- Quince has a secret love for baked goods (which is not so secret now uv u)
