I have a couple of hundred-year-old books in my collection... their covers and spines are deteriorating even though the pages are relatively OK (yellowed, but not tearing/crumbling). Those covers have pieces flaking away that resemble the 'wreckage' or debris you've got in this photo. (Of course, the stuff in this photo also resembles crumbled paint chips, or even--at the small viewing size--dried and crushed leaves/flower petals.)

ANYWAY, very interesting shot. I'm torn between wanting to (very carefully) open the old book to see what story it tells before time runs out, and leaving the old behind to (as your title suggests) start a new story while there's time to do so. Ah, the inexorable march of time! As disturbing as that notion might be for some people, it's definitely thought-provoking. Thanks for posting this.

By the way, is that the same book you used in 'Serenade'? (The red book on top, of course, not the grey one on the bottom.)

i'm not sure how to describe what i ffel when i look at this photo... i can try xD

well like it says that time alaways pass by and nobody can stop it... it's like an illness slowly eating you alive and you just want to left something behind like a story, picture, photo, drawing or anything so ppl don't forget you... it's really amazing shoot ^^

i'm just sad that it's such a small photo xD i'd like to maybe put it on my desktop :3

Love the red tones and 'shattered' pieces underneath the book, nice how the pages are faded and the watch is a nice tone on the side
