You've only got a small bit of her face here, but love the way her eye and turn of her head reinforce the "attitude" in the angle of her hips and hand. Β A most excellent model! Β

Hot damn, that anatomy! Everything is just where it needs to be, and functions exactly how it's supposed to.
All the little details such as little pudges, the spine curvature, just everything makes it so beautiful.

WoodyLWG In reply to VipsaniusAgrippa [2011-11-30 17:32:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I worked very hard at this one to make it nice. It definitely helps to know what is going on under the surface, even when working from life or from photo reference - having solid ecorche' knowledge is essential to representing the figure well.

Gamerhomie [2009-11-20 07:44:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... I'm definitely trying to get there. I'm having problems with proportion and rendering when it comes to the figure. This is a pretty solid piece. How long did it take and how did you get the background so smooth. Did you just keep going over it again and again lightly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WoodyLWG In reply to Gamerhomie [2009-11-21 01:04:40 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Gamerhomie, the only advice I can give you is to slow down, work from the big angles and volumes down to the finer details. Same goes for rendering, this is rendered using charcoal, so the tone was built very carefully over and over, then lifted with a chamois and kneaded eraser. The background tone is from the original vine charcoal sketch and tone study that I wiped away with my chamois cloth. Total time was around 20 to 24 hours, 7 days at 3 to 4 hours a night.
