Description
“The apocalypse is not something which is coming. The apocalypse has arrived in major portions of the planet and it’s only because we live within a bubble of incredible privilege and social insulation that we still have the luxury of anticipating it.”- Terence McKenna
One of the fine folks at ARTEMIS Global Tactical Defense Services, a fictional private security contractor, deployed to some unnamed third world country (possibly in West Africa or Southeast Asia) for less than noble purposes at some point in the second half of the 21st century. He's wearing an advanced HMD (head-mounted display) and packing a [fictional] BV P52 (Belkin-Voight Project 2052) bullpup style assault rifle equipped with a ZeroMS AOG (advanced optical gunsight). While HMDs are worn today by some fighter pilots, I imagine that ground forces of the future may have HMDs of their own for better integration with the unmanned components of their units, among other uses. For instance, the HMD depicted in the pic above also serves as a respirator for use in areas where weapons or chemical manufacturing facilities have been impacted, so as to protect the soldier from dangerous exposure to hazardous materials in the air.
The color scheme in this pic is derived largely from "Apocalypse Now", but there's also a B/W version that I did that you can check out HERE .

On the one hand, I feel like the composition was a bit stronger when the helicopter stood out more...creating that dark patch against an empty sky was really cool. At the same time, the glare effect on the helicopter in this colored version is awesome and adds a great sense of depth and intensity. The color work overall is beautiful.
Not sure which version I prefer.

Beautiful job finishing this one man, the burning orange skyflare wiped out some cool details from the helicopter that were in the BnW version, but I think it was a worthy sacrifice to the lighting gods, it's barely visible outline against the flare almost makes me squint as if I was actually looking up at it through the haze!
I liked the lore as well, you've clearly got several interesting IPs up your sleeves!

Nice! I like how glaring the color scheme looks, it gives the image an atmosphere of danger.
