Description
This year -as it always happens this time of every year- our beloved Santa will be quite selective as to where he'll be giving away his presents...This year i'll be once again sitting in my home with my family, having something descent to eat... The child of the image though is one of many in the world that will be lucky(?) only to be alive...

I added it to my fav because of the atmosphere and subject/message even if I don't like the composition. (Composition is usually the first thing which draws my attention)
But I'm not only sad for the child and the mother, I'm also sad for the soldiers and their families. I don't think they always chose to go there, I don't think they're happy to kill people for their country, or to see their comrades die. And I suppose their families fear the death of their child too.
I didn't like the 'very very pretty. good for a story' comment. It's true, but seen like that, it sounds like it's only good for a fiction whereas it's reality.

Composition sucks indeed as composition is not my department... Ideas keep on pouring from my mind so i struggle to fit everything in an image... I mostly go for a mood using colors instead...
Even if some soldiers don't choose to go to a war, they all are so brainwashed in their country that they think they do the right thing... They believe they strike terrorism even if that's not the truth... The child on the other hand, was never given the choice of suffering or not (would it ever choose to suffer...?) so i do not even compare it with the 'liberators'...
I didn't like the 'good story' comment myself...

Very strong message behind this one.
I'm not very fond of the composition (the diagonal line in the middle of the pic looks out of place), but its nice to see you pushing your limits with more complex stuff.
The mother and child look kinda underworked compared to the super-detailed soldiers.
Good luck with the contest. You definitely deserve more exposure

I don't like the composition myself... As in every piece i do, i don't have any specific image in mind when i start painting... Everything comes out on the way... Not to mention i don't observe lines and rulers at all... The diagonal line you mention is such an outcome and when i saw it, it was too late to correct it... Maybe the whole tank in the back is out of place...
The mother and child are indeed underworked... Overall, i'm not sure i wanted this to be a good looking piece... I mostly wanted to pass a message and as it seems i did it...

Its ok. I know I'm nit-picky but I'm no way suggesting that a piece can or should be perfect. Perfection is boring and flaws are sometimes the heart and soul of a piece.
You don't have to correct anything. I'm just making a few observations that might come in handy in the future.
