Squaw Bay on Lake Superior in early January.Β  As the sun comes up I can hear the cracking of ice like distant thunder .. and very little else.


The massive ice sculptures tell a story of frantic, wind-whipped waves crashing on these frozen boulders.. but nowΒ all is silent and motionless as the world awakes.
