Description
My interpretation of a lizardbug (an alien creature described as an insect trying to be a reptile) from Daniel Bensen’s WIP novel “Junction”, which I was lucky enough to read a draft of . . . if you want to read more of his stuff, I highly recommend Groom of the Tyrannosaur Queen !Related content

You've combined an equally convincing lizard and insect to create a highly believable creature! The head reminds me of a cicada's, the main limbs of a mole cricket's, and the vestigial wings and forelimbs/feelers are brilliantly realised transitional forms. The mouth's the biggest mystery - does it have jaws or mandibles?

Thanks! I don't draw insects very much so that means a lot.
I think it has mandibles, perhaps fused to look more like a jaw on the outside, with a bunch of creepy little wriggly things hidden inside instead of teeth and tongue.

do you think you could do something on "the others" from 'we are legion we are bob', and 'for we are many'? just a recommendation! i think it would be pretty cool

Impresionante trabajo...!!!
Parece un híbrido entre camaleón, mantis, escarabajo y cienpiés... un verdadero mutante...

Hot diggity dang I love the iguana aesthetic being present without being too obvious or too reptilian. I love this design. : D

I know it's an alien, but whenever i see a creature like this, my mind ALWAYS tries to interpret it as something from a timeline where placoderms made the leap to living on land, rather than lobe-finned fish

I know, right? when i imagine it, it's always populated by these weird alien-looking organisms ranging from things similar to this bug-lizard, to things like what can best be described as "Mantis Snakes" (long serpentine beasts with armored heads and limbs that fold like a tarantula's fangs

Possibly? I imagine it would be rather like lobster. The characters in the novel do eat one.

It was said in the novel to taste like bananna, due to the differing biochemistry. Hence I imagine it like dessert-shellfish. I proofed Dan's manuscript too.
