Sketch from life. Three hours on the edge of a cliff, trying my best not to let either my easel or myself fall off.=============
Soft charcoal, white charcoal and pastel on pastel paper, about 12"*18".

I think the way you composed this is lovely- those trees framing the scene gives me the feeling of peeking into a secret, untouched place. Like Scharken said before, the way you picked out each leaf and the sharp highlights i s wonderful, and probably required a lot of patience

Thank you for your comment! The tree was actually quick to do, once you grasped the idea – the leaves are just random lines and dots. The white charcoal was indeed a efficient tool to bring life to the image.

XD well together those lines and dots define the leaves really well
and i've never seen white charcoal o.0 is it like chalk?

They come in the form of pencils, like color pencils but less waxy, and usually harder than chalk.

ahh they sound handy, better than a gel pen of white pencil for this kind of stuff anyway
