Description
This is a study of one of Espen's works here twitter.com/Espenartman/status…
He is definitely one of my favorite artists ever, I love to study his works..
Im not super happy about the clouds, as i did like wayy too many versions, so i just stuck with this one. I need to focus on the "less is more" mind set, as i often spend too much time painting details of things that end up crowding the piece anyway and taking up tons of time next one will be much more simple!
Full-res available for free download* and also for sale.

Really reminds me of some of the mountains I've been to, most specifically the ones in Central Asia - the Caucasus primarily
I'm a sucker for anything that has a painted look to it

You do some beautiful landscapes. What's nice about your style is how the clouds look like splashing water.

Really good, really like the lighting/colours of the painting. One question, what's your way of adding texture to a painting? I feel like it's very easy to end up with a very smooth image when working digitally.

UsamahDraws In reply to Arohdin [2018-09-11 03:25:35 +0000 UTC]
Thanks man! Texture is first made with brush type and brush properties. Then after everything is finished i add final filter pass to enhance the painter/watercolor look, adding sharpen makes the work look more painterly. Sometimes it makes it look better, sometimes worse, in this case im not sure if it helped a ton. but i liked it personally.

I like this piece very much. It has a serenity about it, a beautiful landscape that holds no threat. Then there is the vertical white beam that seems completely at odds with everything else. This element has appeared in other works by you. Can I assume that it's simply a device that is deliberately included to add that 'mysterious' and unexplained spice to the painting or maybe the piece is not as innocent as it seems? Is it my imagination working overtime here or yours?

Dude thanks a ton for the comment and checking it out! As for the light beam thing, you know im not sure why its there, i kinda just like them a ton. Also im not sure if i got it from studying espen a bunch, but espen often adds some kind of beam thing like that. i did use a reference work from epsen that did have a beam of light. I dont know, usually its just because it look cool. Thanks again!
