Description
This was the only issue they published....But seriously, this was made as a Christmas gift for our Imagineer uncle. He loves the Animaniacs, especially Slappy, so we thought: what would a comic of hers from her heyday look like? And this is the result.
In the '40s, Western Publishing published Looney Tunes comics under the Dell brand, and issues that starred specific characters were part of the "Four Color Comics" series.
There is in fact an actual No. 81, but the character featured is so darned obscure nowadays that who the heck cares?

Had this actually been released in the 40βs that would have been the actual price.

I am a good fan of Slappy Squirrel. Too bad she only had three villains. Unless you count Candi Chipmunk.

She can't help it.
She can't help the things she does.
She's just an old lady.

WOW.
I'm speechless.
I'm.......I don't how to describe this.
The "vintage" comic book wear effect looks so real, I was actually almost convinced that Slappy actually had her own comic series as soon as I first saw the thumbnail.
You have DEFINITELY bowled me over...........................

Oh, yes. True. The "vintage" effect works to an even greater extent on that one. VERY well done, mate.

Omigosh, this seriously made me do a double-take! I thought it was real until I read the artist's comments! The lineart is perfect, and the texture is great! It looks totally authentic! Did you make that font yourself?

tymime In reply to PsychoAngel51402 [2012-02-22 00:18:01 +0000 UTC]
No, that's a real font. XD It's a real old decorative typeface- the same one they used on the back cover of Pet Sounds.

That's so awesome.
I did a Dell Comics tribute for my character Patrick sometime ago, with MegaVolt attached. My friend said they used to sell these by the dozen even in the 90's at this old shop he used to visit in Hayward someplace. Such a trip.
